- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In Phoenix, AZ, I became involved in teaching immigrants from many countries how to fit into American life. This included teaching them to hear, say, read, write, understand, and Communicate effectively in English. I have been informally translating Spanish into English since 1974. It has been a delightful hobby for me. People I knew kept on urging me to Tutor English. I finally gave in in 2004. In Trade School in 2011-2012, they kept on asking me what my "Dream" Job would be. It was, (and still is), tutoring people who cannot understand or communicate in English the skills they need to flourish. I have been tutoring children of all ages, and is certainly even more fulfilling than I imagined it would be! It really helped that I have almost always been in Management and was an On-The-Job-Instructor for so many years.
