FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates vary depending on number of instruments (or tracks), and the amount of production (Editing & Mixing) needed for those tracks. The editing process is the correction of any timing and "tape" flaws in the musician's performances. For example off time drum hits that need to be quantized to the tempo grid or out of sync guitar parts and double tracked vocal lines that need alignment. This also includes choping tape to eliminate "hiss" and excess noise or buzz. Straight forward stuff, but VERY neccessary for professional sounding results. Mixing can best be summed up as the process of bringing out the best sonic properties of those performances once they have been edited and finding a harmonious balance for everything. We do this by use of compressors, eq's, aural exciters, stereo imaging and other methods. The mixing process can be very tedious and time consuming, especially when there are a large number of tracks involved. The more tracks there are to mix the more frequencies there are on top of one another, competing with eachother to stand out over the rest. More potential problems occur in this stage, but finding that sustainable balance is the fine art of mixing. For simplicities sake I categorize mixing and editing together into one "Mix rate" Basic Studio Service Rates Tracking - $40/hr (2hr min) - $300/day (10hr day) Mix Rates - Mix rates start at $75/song Mastering - $40/song **Ask me about full production flat rates per song and Demo/EP packages **Please inquire for studio musician and song collaboration prices.
