Introduction: Hello, my name is Robert Stone and I'm a certified personal trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. I hold a Masters degree in kinesiology. My specialty is working with adults aged 40 and older as well as people with chronic medical conditions and disabilities. Seeking out a personal trainer can be a confusing and complicated process. While there are many qualified personal trainers, not all personal trainers are experienced working with all age groups and health conditions. Starting the process of personal training is 100% risk-free. Before we start training you will get a free live video hour-long comprehensive evaluation where we will discuss your goals and determine your specific fitness needs. After the evaluation, we will discuss what kind of training schedule and type of exercise plan will ensure that you reach your fitness goals as quickly as possible. If you are happy with the direction of your training plan after the evaluation we can schedule training sessions at times that work best for you. I have availability for training in the morning, afternoon, and evening, to best fit your busy schedule. All training sessions are paid for on a week by week basis and you will never be required to commit to purchasing a package of training sessions. I am able to adapt your program based on whatever equipment you have available to you. No matter what you have, I can help you get a great workout. Based on your specific needs your training program will include exercises to improve your muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, posture, and cardiovascular endurance. Nutritional counseling will also be provided as needed to help you achieve a healthy weight. I can help! My goal is to provide you with A COMFORTABLE TRAINING ENVIRONMENT Unlike a traditional gym experience the which involves travel, expenses, and an uncomfortable training experience. Have a relaxing, non-intimidating exercise experience in the comfort of your own home. Imagine the ease of having your trainer calling in at a time and place that is convenient for you. Your exercise program will be customized to your specific needs and current fitness and ability level. You never have to worry about being new to exercise or that your trainer will "kill you" during your workout. Each workout is designed to be the right amount of challenge to give you the best results possible without feeling like you are going to die and not being able to move the next day. COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATIONS I will take you through both a comprehensive health and fitness evaluation that will cover your health history, current condition, and fitness ability. I will look for specific areas of your health and fitness that need to be focused on in order to get you to your specific goals. For each area, a comprehensive exercise plan will be developed. After your evaluation, I will help make a recommendation for the ideal frequency of training needed to help you accomplish your goals and provide a potential outlook for your health and fitness future. EDUCATION When you train with me I don't want you to feel like a passive participant. During every session, you can expect to learn more about exercise and your own physical health. I make an effort to make sure that every person I train knows why we are doing the exercises we are doing, where our program is going, and ways that they can continue to take more control of their own health. AFFORDABILITY Unlike other forms of training such as at a gym, there are no hidden costs. With a gym membership, you have to pay a monthly fee on top of any personal trainer fees that you have. Often gyms might lock you into plans that you are required to maintain. If you want to try working out at home buying the right equipment can be expensive. With In-home personal training you pay for only the exercise you need. RESPECT The values of care and compassion are the cornerstones of all of the training that I do. I couldn't be more pleased with his professionalism and the results. I was looking specifically for a trainer who would understand my need, as an older person, to gain strength and maintain health. He cares so much about you--he wills you to succeed! He puts everything into his training sessions with you. Robert is quite possibly the most knowledgeable personal trainer out there. He knows it all, about how the body works, what it needs to train properly and how to get the body burning and ripping and toning. Robert created a whole schedule for me and he stays on top of you to keep you in the game and motivated. Robert has truly taken one-on-one personal training the next level. He's always bright, enthusiastic and on your side about getting you in shape!

I've been training with him for the past 2 months and I cannot stop telling all my friends about the experience. There are 4 things that I look for in a trainer: 1) Understanding and appreciating my goals 2) Understanding my lifestyle and habits 3) Having a good suite of knowledge on form and fitness 4) A good time Robert is really great at all of these. Essentially, I use him as my encyclopedia on all things fitness related. I would highly recommend him for clients who are looking to learn more about themselves and learn more about how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their current lives. Robert is flexible and lighthearted and kind. If you are looking for a coach who is constantly just screaming at you to do multiple reps regardless of your goals or limits, Rob is not your guy. Here's more about him: He is an excellent listener and can understand my commute, lifestyle habits etc. so he has tailored his training and coaching to fit my life. During our sessions, he's constantly pushing me, but he knows when to stop and that a workout doesn't make sense anymore, or we need to change a routine or movement to re-focus on something else. For example, in one strength exercise, we realized that one of my weaknesses is imbalance on my right side. He then altered the exercise to my needs so that I can simultaneously work on my balance while also still exercising that strength. It goes without saying that one of Robert's strengths is being able to see weaknesses and learn more about my body's strengths/weaknesses through our workouts. He's constantly observing to see where my imbalances are, where I'm stronger, what forms I need to work on. Robert is a good partner in that he is always asking questions, the workouts are constant dialogue - learning more about that exercise, and how my body is improving so that he knows to either up the difficulty or to change it up a bit. He's also always asking what I want to learn, so I've really gotten a thorough education on various ways to exercise. In addition, Robert is always there when I need him. He's accessible via text but he's not one of those trainers that's constantly on you about scheduling the next session. He's not a salesman. It's typically on my terms. I've even asked him for advice on how my boss (who's pregnant) should be training during her pregnancy. Training with Robert has really changed my lifestyle for the better. I'm 100x healthier and I feel great. I'm getting stronger every day and I have now learned to incorporate fitness into my life in a healthy way. I'd recommend Rob to anyone. He's fun and friendly and always has a smile on. It's a blast and a half to see him every week.

I don't mind being old, but I definitely do not want to feel old. I get scared of how the body tends to fall apart as you get older. That seems like the worst part of aging: to no longer be able to do what you used to do. Keeping the body fit is the only thing that can fight that. I feel the benefits of my workouts, and not just in my body. Maintaining my physical fitness keeps me sane, too. I know I have the ability to control how I age, and that gives me a great deal of joy. I look forward to my workouts with Robert. Every session gives me a higher quality of life at a point when many think that's no longer possible.

My orthopedic doctor recommended exercise therapy for complications related to MS and years of walking with a resulting bad gait and lower back problems. I had also developed meralgia parastetica. I was deteriorating rapidly. Fortunately, I started working with Robert Stone 3 days a week and have been making excellent progress with increasing core strength, balance, improved walking, increased mobility and reduction of pain. Robert's a very knowledgeable therapist with an exceptional ability to evaluate symptoms and design a taylor-made program to get results. He was also able to release the entrapped nerve that was giving me significant pain with stretching exercises. Robert is dedicated to getting results! and a tremendous ally to have when you've decided to improve your health and potential for future quality of life. Robert's personality is an added bonus.   • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Personal training sessions vary in price based on travel distance due to the time to travel between sessions and the cost of gas. Travel distance is determined the actual road travel distance from the Therapeutic Exercise LA office in Northridge CA. Sessions longer than 55 minutes are available upon request. 0 - 10 MILES DISTANCE 55-minute single session at $50 11 - 20 MILES DISTANCE 55-minute single session at $60 21 - 30 MILES DISTANCE 55-minute single session at $70

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Before any training occurs we will go through a free evaluation which lasts about an hour. During this evaluation I will take you through both a comprehensive health and fitness evaluation that will cover your health history, current condition, and fitness ability. I will look for specific areas of your health and fitness that need to be focused on in order to get you to your specific goals. For each area, a comprehensive exercise plan will be developed. After your evaluation, I will help make a recommendation for the ideal frequency of training needed to help you accomplish your goals and provide a potential outlook for your health and fitness future. During this time any medical issues which could affect the safety during exercise will be addressed and may require medical release from a doctor before any exercise can occur.

    I hold a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in applied fitness and active lifestyle development. I am currently completing a Masters Degree in Kinesiology: Adapted Physical Activity. I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and I am certified in Applied Functional Science.
