I was looking for a fun date night idea with my wife Kate and had the idea of cooking classes. I checked on as many different cooking schools as I could find on the Westside and kept striking out - no options, weird one-off dishes, places with a slot for one but not both of us, and incredibly expensive ($200+ pp) options. I finally got on Thumbtack candidly not really knowing what I was looking for and sent a few chefs a request. Chef Tracy responded in genuinely less than 30 mins with a phone call and text message, was available for a class genuinely 24 hours later, and asked what we wanted to have before providing us with a few different full menus to choose from. When I asked what else we needed to do, she said she had us covered - Tracy did the shopping, brought cookware, wrote out recipes for all the dishes we were making, etc. On the evening of our dinner, she texted me early letting me know she was en route, arrived promptly at our start time, and her and her assistant quickly loaded everything into what we were worried was a small galley kitchen before getting us started on our meal. We started prepping a crème brûlée before beginning the most insanely delicious mustard sauce I’ve ever had. Chef Tracy has a great, calm demeanor and total control of the kitchen, which was incredibly comforting and helpful as we learned knife skills, asked for tips and tricks on seasoning, etc. We prepared asparagus and potatoes, had a calm, comfortable conversation throughout, and then pulled our crème brûlée and started on our lamb chops. As everything came together, Chef Tracy helped us plate our meals and then we sat and started eating while she cleaned up her cookware and set up our dessert. We whipped our own whip cream, finished our incredible meal, and committed to 100% using Tracy again for catering for my work events while also planning on a few future cooking classes. Chef Tracy is sweet, kind, incredibly skilled and knowledgeable and we could not more strongly recommend her. We ended our meal with my wife telling me this was our best date night ever and for that, I remain forever grateful! Thanks Chef Tracy - see you soon!
