I last minute decided to host a birthday dinner party and was in need of a caterer asap. After submitting my hopeful requirements and details for my party, Steven reached out to me immediately and was the only message I received that had personalization within the text. He truly was reaching out to ME vs copy and pasting his business portfolio. We had a call immediately and within 1-2 days had the menu selection squared away. I gave him very simple directions - 'I love Mediterranean food'... he came back with a Croatian Michelin star restaurant inspired menu with hints of Morocco. He was super communicative and informative on each dish and my party needs. The food was delivered right on time in serving dishes with serving utensils and everything was absolutely beautiful, clean and quick. The two employees that delivered the dishes were also extremely sweet and efficient. Steven normally does larger events, from what I've seen on his website, but my get together was only 20 people and he made it feel so special and easy. So, big or small event, Steven Segar is definitely the catering route you should go.

From the moment we spoke on the phone, I knew that Segar would be catering my better half's 50th Birthday party. Steven was so knowledgeable and thorough as I explained my vision. He almost immediately came up with a menu, rental plan, party vibe, and other things that I would have not even had thought of had I not been working with a seasoned (no pun intended) veteran of the catering business. His experienced staff arrived on the day of the party and immediately set my mind at ease as they took over the scene, allowing me to completely enjoy the arrival of the guests and actually get to talk to them! Steven grilled up some delicious lamb lollipops on my grill while others prepped the food in my kitchen, served the guests on my outdoor patio (with rented tables, chairs, and umbrellas), and socially lubricated my family and friends with margaritas and other cocktails from the experienced bartender. 100% of the guests remarked that it was one of the best parties they had ever been to, and the food was delicious! Thank you Segar Catering!

Chef Steven and his team made us a fantastic meal, got the oohs and aahs from my parents (it was a 45th anniversary dinner for them) as well as younger crowd at the meal. In fact, we're still talking about the tomato tartare dish he came up with. The chef and his team handled passed appetizers, absolutely inventive and delicious cocktails, setup and cleanup all for a completely reasonable fee per person. They used our dishes/silverware/glassware but cleaned everything up and left the kitchen spotless. Multiple people from the dinner have asked for their contact info so they can book Chef Steven in the future. We wouldn't hesitate to book them for our next party.

Pricing is developed after a conversation with the customer.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After a formal introduction, I gather information regarding the customer's desires and expectations. This information leads to the generation of sample menus with various pricing options and further conversation until the customer is pleased with the menu layout and direction of their event concept.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I began my professional career cooking at fine dining Restaurant 1789 in Washington DC, focus on private engagements for heads of state (Clintons, Joe Biden and others,) celebrity guests (Paul McCartney, Queen Noor, Shia LeBouf, Anderson Cooper and others) and executive gatherings. I owned the food truck brand Eat Wonky and helped pioneer the Food Truck Association before moving to Naples FL to start my real estate firm and launch Naples' first ever Restaurant Week. Cultivating my diverse experiences, I am now operating Segar LA.
