I've been training at Sparta Academy for several months now and could not be happier with my experience. The environment crafted by the instructors and trainers in the classes could not be more encouraging or positive. Not only are the instructors and owners remarkably encouraging, you will find the community of students to have the same attitude. There is always someone willing and ready to help if you have any questions. Regardless of your level of experience, either in the Martial Arts or Cross-Training (&lifting), you will never be disappointed with how you will be pushed and encouraged to move past your boundaries and constantly improve. Learning Krav Maga these past few months (bear in mind, I started with absolutely zero experience), has not only improved my fitness immensely, but left me with a surprising amount of confidence that I wasn't expecting as a result of these classes. I would absolutely recommend taking any of the classes offered. I particularly enjoy learning martial arts, as it's a discipline I never imagined I could do but has quickly become a passion of mine. Also, I love attending the morning cross-training classes as I've learned new techniques to increase my strength while always ensuring I'm performing movements correctly and will not injure myself (I've previously had several shoulder surgeries). Large egos are unwelcome, so have no fear if you are very new to any of the disciplines, as you will be welcomed just as much as the most advanced student in the class. I highly recommend Sparta Academy. It's not all serious either, in case you're concerned. It's a community of highly professional, but real people who aren't afraid to joke and laugh in between sets. Everyone is personable and welcoming, and you're certain to get your money's worth.
Working with Vinny has completely changed how I work out. I was always good at motivating myself at the gym, but I knew I wasn't maximizing my time. By combining martial arts, weight training, cardio, and my own diet plan (created by Vinny and based on my specific measurements) I'm now seeing big changes in my body. He's such a great motivator to do that "one last rep" and really focuses on not only training the body, but the mind as well. I'd recommend him to anyone and everyone!!
I’ve been going to Summit Fitness and specifically training with Michelle since about March, 2015. She’s such an awesome trainer, I love and respect her approach to training in that she incorporates a variety approaches, activities, and exercises that range from the typical to the not so typical. For example, for strength training we of course use weights and resistance but she also routinely incorporates yoga and martial arts exercises into the mix which keeps it both interesting and at times dare I say fun! I would also describe her approach to training as being holistic in that she recognizes that it’s not just about building up one’s strength and cardio; flexibility, diet, deep stretching, etc., are as equally important and sometimes entire sessions are devoted to just that which as a long-time runner I know my legs desperately need. I really can’t say enough about her, other things that have been huge plusses for me are 1- she’s a female trainer and as such she has been able to provide a level of comfort I’m not sure I would be able to have with a male trainer especially when doing certain exercises or taking my body measurements and 2- how attentive she is to the needs and goals of all her clients. She genuinely cares about us and her actions prove that… just ask the clients who she has gone athletic shoe shopping with or has met at the track to jump start a running regiment.
Margo has a lot of passion for martial arts and it comes out in his training sessions. After only a few sessions I saw improvement in my form and confidence. I would recommend this to anyone regardless of their experience level.
I've been training with Martin for about two months now. I have about a year background in martial arts. I really enjoy all of the different mixed martial arts he's been teaching me. Not only are they fun, but everything he teaches I believe is highly effective during a confrintation on the streets. The combination of kickboxing, Lima lama, and Kung fu, and other martial arts equips one for the many different scenarios that may take place during a street fight. He breaks everything down in complete detail, step by step. I highly recommend Martin if you are interested in self defense.
Johnny is awesome! I hired him to train my wife in self defense. I've been doing martial arts for years and have never managed to convince my wife to do it with me. It always intimidated her. But within a few lessons with Johnny she is now hooked. Johnny is very experienced working with women and with people without any background in martial arts. Now, a month into her working with Johnny, she loves every minute of it. I can see her improvement, both physically and psychologically and I have never seen her so motivated to workout. I highly recommend Johnny.

Jorge is an exceptional trainer, teacher, coach, and motivator. He teaches me boxing and various forms of martial arts and each day that I work with him I learn so much -- about myself, about the craft, about Jorge's skills, and Jorge's abilities and patience as a teacher. I can feel myself making progress after every session with Jorge. His ability to break down movements and describe how they all fit together is incredible. He weaves in breath work, ancient wisdom, and practical skill application into every lesson. He positively challenges you to do your best each time, and his fabulous attitude and cheerfulness is contagious. I can't recommend him highly enough! You will not be disappointed if you choose to work with Jorge!
