Was so excited to have our first catered event in the comfort of our own home but was left feeling like we could’ve gotten a better experience for our money.
0/5 for communication. The Yanagi’s communication was almost nonexistent to start. Not once were we asked about our allergies, preferences, or dietary restrictions. Every answer we received from them was because we had to initiate conversation over and over again. Days leading up to the event we had no confirmation text or anything. We were told the chef would arrive anywhere around 6-6:30. 6:30 rolls around WE had to reach out to the chef. For them to tell us they’ll be an HOUR late but ensured us our dinner will still be ready by 8:30.
2/5 for the food. We were promised a 10 course omakase style dinner. But instead got some basic rolls, cold stale bowl of edamame, sashimi that tasted fishy, and the only decent part of the meal the nigiri. But nothing about this experience was 10 course omakase.
3/5 for service. The chef prepared the food quick and was overall kind. Only thing was there was seaweed left all over the floors but nothing a quick vacuum couldn’t fix.
All in all for what we got charged for this experience, they definitely over promised and under delivered.
