Introduction: Learning music should be fun, exciting, and most importantly, affordable. I have been providing quality private lessons to students of all ages for over 35 years. My home studio is half a mile from the Beverly Center, in a comfortable and homey setting. I have multiple keyboard instruments, including a grand piano and the latest instruments in digital technology. - (New Digital Keyboards come with many features, such as automated "Accompaniment Styles". Using these features can be complicated and confusing at first. I teach interested students how to use these features. This is especially helpful for adult students who don't want to go through the traditional methods of having to learn how to read musical notation.) - Weekend and late evening hours are available to fit any schedule. Your first session is complimentary, and there are no long term commitments; you simply pay as you go. Street (hang-tag) and driveway parking means you don't have to worry about searching for a space, which as you know can be a hassle in the city. James is very passionate about the piano and it shows in his instruction. My two children look forward to attending his lessons every week! He is very knowledgeable, motivating, and inspiring. James explains every aspect of the piano, from reading music, how to use the keys, to the foundation of the song. I’m shocked everyday by how fast the kids are learning. And what I love most, is he holds them accountable for continuous learning and studying even after the lesson. I recommend James to anyone willing to learn this amazing instrument. I am one of James students and I feel that he is a patient and caring teacher. I learn a lot from him in such a short time. While he is a nice teacher he is firm and holds you accountable. But that is what makes him such a good teacher. And I think that he genuinely cared about his students. I recommend him to anyone who want to learn how to play the piano!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I moved to Los Angeles very recently and I am trying to fill my studio. For this reason I'm offering lessons for much cheaper prices until I reach my desired number of students, which is between 20-25. Currently I only have 10 students, so it's going to be quite a while before tuition rates are increased.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each student is different. I approach each student depending on their aptitude, interests, and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music, class of 1987.
