About
Hey there! I'm Morgan Jones, a private piano teacher and faculty member at the LA College of Music. Some of my career highlights as a performer have included playing with Aretha Franklin, recording "High Hopes" with Panic! at the Disco, and performing on American Idol, the Voice and Glee. I got my start teaching in New York City public schools through the Morse Teaching Artist Fellowship at Juilliard, where I received a master's degree in music. While we're all staying at home, I'm happy to offer online piano lessons through Zoom and all other virtual platforms. Kids, adults and all experience levels are welcome. I provide lessons for total beginners, pre-professional coaching and everything in between! More info at MorganJones.com

Morgan is the absolute best!!! An incredible teacher. I have made excellent progress in my understanding of piano performance and theory throughout our lessons together.

Morgan is the BEST piano teacher! I was hesitant to start taking lessons as an adult but Morgan has made it fun and motivating. His tips and tricks are top notch and he is really effective when it comes to teaching over Zoom, I was surprised! I highly recommend taking a lesson with him, no matter what level or age you are!

Morgan is the best! I highly recommend him.I've been taking lessons over Zoom with Morgan since June 2020. I'm a pretty good woodwind player but haven't had much formal piano instruction. Morgan was a particularly good fit because of his background on both sax and piano; he's able to translate piano concepts into terms that I can better understand.Morgan's pedagogical style make every lesson a pleasure. My sense is Morgan adapts to the level of control that the student wants. In my case, I had specific pieces in mind to learn; Morgan was very happy to let me explore those pieces, offering appropriately tailored advice as needed. When I wanted further advice on what to play, Morgan had suggestions, but everything "went with the flow" - nothing was forced. That's the level of structure I wanted, but Morgan seems ready and able to provide more structure / discipline if that will be helpful to the student.I was a little wary of doing lessons over Zoom, but it's been a seamless interaction. I position my phone or laptop camera so that Morgan can see me play, and Morgan has been able to offer detailed instructions on both the mechanics of playing (e.g., fingerings for difficult passages; arm / wrist / hand control) and on style (musical phrasing; voicing) that I thought would be impossible to do virtually. We both get our scores from imslp.org, and working off the same score has been very helpful in communication; Morgan can also display the score on the Zoom screen and highlight key passages as needed. So give Morgan a try! You won't regret it. A Juilliard-trained professional with great interpersonal skills? How can you lose?

He shared fun mnemonics and got me playing one of my favorite songs on the piano. Felt like I saw progress in just one lesson!
