FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rate is $150 an hour for individual sessions. $190 for family or couples sessions.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started my career in mental health in a group home for teen girls on probation. I learned a lot about adolescent issues and became interested in eating disorders. In 2005, I started working as a counselor for a treatment program called Center For Discovery, which at the time was small and is now the largest provider of eating disorder treatment in the country. I became a therapist in the company after finishing graduate school and getting a Master's in Clinical Psychology. I have also worked for another eating disorder program in a hospital and outpatient setting. I have worked with a variety of other populations including adolescents with substance abuse issues.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The biggest factor in having a successful therapy experience is if the therapist and client are the right fit for each other. Therapy requires a great deal of vulnerability on the client's part. You would want someone you feel comfortable with and who you can trust. I would recommend talking to a few therapists to get a sense of how they work and how you feel talking to them. If you are seeking assistance with body image and/or disordered eating, I would HIGHLY recommend you see an eating disorder specialist. I have many resources on therapists, dietitians, and groups in this field, so even if I am not the right fit or I am not near you, I can provide referrals for you.
