Harley and Shery have a music and recording studio right next to Johnny's Guitar Shop. That is where all the lessons take place. Gianni has been with Harley for about 3 years now, I think, and loves it so much that his week is not quite right if he can't go. Both Luca and Robbie have lessons there too (guitar and piano). We "occupy" a good chunk of Tuesday afternoon and I completely trust them with my boys' musical upbringing. Harley teaches the instruments and I take lessons with Shery. Shery is the voice coach of The Music Factory and brings years of experience to each lesson. My voice has improved tremendously with her gently guiding me. Both of them are in a band called "Shery & the Psychodelics". They have their own website under that name. It is totally worth your babysitter to go and see them, 'cause they sure know how to rock da house :-) They are so "into" music that they often go over the time (if there's no appt after), just because it's fun for them. The approach is artistic (as apposed to strictly from a book with homework etc) - they really try to let the kids "feel the music within you".
"I had guitar lessons with the Guitar Institute of Learning for a little over 3 years, and those years were the first 3 years I had in my experience of ever playing the guitar. I learned so much from my teacher. He taught me Jazz Standards, folk songs, and even things that were accommodated to my own interests as well! More importantly, I gained a life changing perspective from the songs, chords, melodies and harmonies that my teacher taught me. The concepts never get old. Guitar Institute of Learning does not just teach you how to play guitar, but how to practice it and how to become a great musician. It can be one thing to play an instrument, but to know how to play with other musicians requires a development of playing with others and applying your knowledge. Which is what guitar institute of learning can help you do. Everything I learned from GIOL literally changed my view and appreciation for music once I became more aware of the music world. I learned things that, once I looked back and realized what I was learning, I was so surprised and grateful that I was shown such great songs. I will always have a gratitude for the class and vast repertoire that they had opened me up to. As a musician, now playing guitar for 8 years, I would not be where I am today without those lessons. Knowing how important practicing everyday is, and finding how you define music will help you find an appreciation and motivation from and beyond these lessons." -Lawrence S. Abbott
"I want to play guitar." Chad helps you see just what that means to you. What level do you aspire to? Do you want to emphasize chords or finger picking or vice versa? What do you hope to do with the guitar? He is the guitar player we are all familiar with: laid back, easy going, so relaxing, soothing - making it look so easy. But he also lets you in on some of his challenges as a teacher and performer - which takes away some of the student's anxiety about being able to learn the guitar. And with his personal attention he conveys that conviction that you. too, can and will play the guitar. But you do have to bring in a level of dedication and commitment to deep, serious, daily practice. I'm semi-retired and so I've able to practice 3 hours a day. I'm just now hearing an improvement in my playing and the fingers are moving with more certainty and confidence. I'm on my way to achieving a level of playing that's of my own making & determination - that is very exciting.
I am looking for beginner to intermediate players to instruct. I have 34 years of experience. I can provide amp/guitar for practice sessions. I charge $20.00 per session.
My teaching methods are alot different from many teachers. Instead of just teaching the different concepts and theory of guitar I also like to give my students a fun experience. I want my students to be excited to learn and practice to keep them motivated to stick with it. In all reality anyone can play guitar, all it takes is dedication and a will to learn.
I have been playing the guitar for 10 years. I play the guitar for my church, and I love teaching kids and youth.

I have a proven lesson plan that will help any aspiring guitarists to achieve his/her own personal goals.

I have been playing guitar for seven years and have experience learning and playing a significant range of musical genres, including blues, rock, metal, blues rock, country rock, etc. I have taken lessons from Boston's Berkeley College of Music alumni, Mike Berkowitz. I spent the majority of my learning years through today playing onstage at a local church, working my way up from playing in the youth group to now performing most weeks of the month in front of over one-thousand people. I have performed in a number of local bands and at venues like "The Big Fresno Fair" and have toured to areas along the West Coast performing at reputable venues, such as the "Whiskey A Go Go" in LA and "The Great American Music Hall" located in San Francisco. I have recently decided to begin teaching guitar and pass on the knowledge and skill I have gained through my experiences from performing music to writing and occasionally recording. I can provide lessons or guidance to students of any range of skill from beginner to advanced, from basic chord changes to advanced technique. Many people believe that they can learn to play music solely from the Internet, but this method lacks structure and guidance. I notice that many holes form within their knowledge of music, and this hinders musicians from being able to express themselves freely. I hope to close any gaps and allow for a full knowledge of the instrument so that it may be played expressively and without hindrance. I realize that I am in an inconvenient location in relation to Fresno and am perfectly willing to travel to the student at a possible additional cost depending on distance or convenience to help cover gas charges. Thank you, and I look forward to working with you!
Your desires are utmost. I am blessed with a creative musical ability that I share with you to teach and encourage you to achieve "your" musical goals.
