Mayank S. says, "Found Sergei (Cool Service) through the Thumbtack app. Had an emergency water leak inside my Master Bathroom (2nd floor) Made an Thumbtack appt on the same day, and Alex, brother called in right away to dispatch Sergei in the late afternoon. Sergei showed up. He quickly looked at the water flooded Master Bath sink faucet and diagnosed the problem of hot supply hose line being worn out. Also, the center faucet is completely loosened from underneath the sink base. Sergei like a real HERO, A SUPERMAN for me, hop on to the Cool Service van, stop by at Homedepot, purchased the 2 new supply lines (both for hot and cold), returned within 20 minutes and in next 30 minutes, he was done replacing both the brand new supply lines, tighten up the middle Faucet and side 2 knobs (hot and cold one) and Wallah, the emergency and urgent problem solved. This was an incredible and outstanding job by Sergei to show up in the 11th hour notice, ran to Homedepot, and replaced the material to get the life back to normal, Ah ha... It was a Happy contented brushing that night. The sink looked different for sure. What an excellent Plumbing JOB well done by Sergei, full marks 100 /100, Absolutely Flawless and impeccable job!! I immediately made another appt with Sergei for today big job of Whole House Hydro Jetting or Sewer Jetting (search online and watch videos, u folks will understand) followed by the Gas Water Heater Corrections including installation of bonding straps between the hot and cold water supply lines, water heater drain pipe installation to let it go out of the sideyard garage as per the code, drain hose or residual sediments and Calcium build up from the past 10 years and the entire deep cleaning of water heater bottom tank. Sergei already installed as of thy now the brand new Aluminum Pan underneath the water heater as per the city safety code. Sergei is done as of now with both the challenging and complicated tasks of gas water heater deep cleaning and residual drain hose, the calcium build up. Now, Sergei is performing the other task of water heater bonding strap installation. He already replaced the gas pressure safety relief valve but found that one of the latch is missing, so now my Super HERO ran to Homedepot. Truly blessed to come across and met the Cool Service team (Alex, Sergei) and they are strongly recommended for any homeowner, residential plumbing services, water heater, Hydro Jet, Gas lines Cleaning, repair, installation, toilet, faucets, sump pumps, storm drain, water filters, water softeners. I can tell with my chin up and proudly with full confidence that I just found the cool superheroes of plumbing and all other above-mentioned services. Sergei is my plumbing doctor and a real hero, a life savoir, can not say enough. Sergei really knows what he's doing and talking. Extremely and technically very knowledgeable, humble, polite, and very soft spoken. A true Gem of Jewel. It's hard to find unique and rare diamonds like Sergei! Sergei is extremely valuable, brings the solution on the table, is very thoughtful, insightful, intelligent, and fast in executing the task"See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do plumbers charge per hour?

Depending on the service you need (unclogging a drain, fixing a pipe, installing new pipes, etc.), plumbers charge anywhere from $45-$165 per hour. Plumbers often operate on a fixed rate model, too. Some won’t charge hourly rates because the variables involved in their work makes it less practical to do so.

Plumbers will scope out the work, calculate the cost of parts, and roll it together with other fees to give you an estimate for the job. They may even offer standard flat rates for things like installing a toilet or a sink. Reach out to plumbers near you to get an accurate cost estimate for your project or repair.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.

Follow these additional tips for confidently hiring a plumber or other skilled professional.
