FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I keep my prices low so that I can choose my students. Many times those with the most potential cannot afford top notch training. I choose students with a real passion for performing and a desire to improve and do the work!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Evaluation. Talk to parent/ student about approach I plan to take and what is needed to achieve these goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started in Musical Theater st the age of 8. I studied for 10 years at San Diego Junior Theater. After high school I turned professional and headed off at the age of 17 Performing in the ensemble of George M., after my contract was over I planned to attend SDSU until I saw a production at Mesa College and heard about their intensive CORE conservatory program. After finishing CORE. I continued my life as an aspiring actress/singer/dancer until 1995 when I was involved in a major car accident. Not being able to physically handle the demands of a 8 show a week tour. I decided to get involved in the local community theater... one thing led to another snd I began teaching. I continued my vocal training and focused on pedagogy (teaching). In 1998 I started a performing group of local kids called “Broadway Bound” Which is now a multi national award winning vocal performance group. This is our 20th year! I still take workshops and Master Classes whenever possible. Many times alongside my students so that I can see how others approach perhaps an obstacle or difficult area differently. I also sing in the Southwest College Chamber Singers and occasionally get back on stage locally.. I have spent time studying with department heads and instructors from Julliard and UCLA and ACT San Francisco at a drama teachers retreat, where the drama/music teachers were the students. It was wonderful. It allowed me to hit checkpoints with myself and my technique and make sure I was staying current and relevant. I also have taken classes in Vocal Health. Taught jointly by music teachers and physicians, I learned a lot about the growth and health of teaching vocals to youth and also more ideas on how to maintain proper vocal health.
