Karen was wonderful. It rained the day of the wedding and she worked with the venue to make sure our once outdoor ceremony was still perfect in the indoor environment. We made the decisions to move it indoors a few days before and after sorting out a few details we didn't have to think about it anymore. I worked with Karen on my son's first birthday party. She was amazing to work with from start to finish. She thought of every detail I likely would not have thought about on my own. In addition, she had an emergency kit that came in handy on the day of. She made sure our event was setup properly and that all the items were cleared out and packed up by the end of the party. Karen came through big time in helping me put on my wife's 50th Birthday Party. The outpouring of compliments are still coming through from all of the guests in attendance. Not only being very professional, Karen's attention to the details made the difference in an extremely successful party. From the Photo Booth, Pictures, Layout, Venue... Karen kept me informed prior and during the party, keeping a very calm demeanor throughout... very professional! My biggest regret about wedding planning is not bring Karen and California Dreamin' Weddings into the process sooner. Don't made the same mistake we did - if you're thinking about it, hire her now! We hired Karen as our DOC but she also offers full and partial planning services, which would have been great to utilize. Karen was super communicative, supportive, and understanding of our wants and needs for our special day. She was such a calming presence during the lead up to the wedding and during the big day, and she allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our own wedding. She was able to handle communications with vendors with ease and transparency, and at no point did I have to worry about something not being executed properly - Karen excels at what she does. Karen is true to her company's name- a DREAM! It was such a joy to work with her, and having her calming presence around one of the most potentially stressful situations was a Godsend! We had a very unconventional ceremony and reception location, and she had incredible ideas that really saved the day- She organized and wrangled a complicated venue, all the while being so positive and calm. She is patient, structured, thorough, and just such a joy to be around! You can tell that she's seen it all, because nothing rattled her, and she had inventive solutions for every single hurdle we had: event flow, ceremony planning, venue snafus! - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I develop pricing according to customers' budget, and individual needs. I start with a base rate, but I am always flexible.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I love meeting new customers and encourage them to see our reviews to instill confidence. I have a face-to-face meeting and talk about the details of their special event. I offer professional advice, and forward a list of preferred vendors that I have worked with to help narrow down their search, and make it easier for them to find reputable vendors. We meet again at the actual venue to go over set-up and a rehearsal (for weddings). A timeline is created and shared with the venue/vendors to insure everyone is on the same page. I am open to my clients' via phone/email for any questions that arise during the planning process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been in the hospitality/event planning/management business for over 15 years for top companies and venues which include: The Balboa Bay Resort San Juan Hills GC Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club Newport Beach Country Club Electra Cruises Hornblower American Express Waterfront Hilton Huntington Beach, and many more venues from 30-300 guests.
