JJ and I have started an intense workout regimen that quite frankly is kicking my a@%... but is exactly what I need to get back into shape both in muscle tone and cardiovascular stamina. He is at once approachable and friendly, he doesn't shout but will hold you to pushing yourself as far as you can go, and then a little more. If you are committed to getting into shape, I HIGHLY recommend meeting up with JJ. He is also extremely knowledgeable regarding nutrition and will literally answer any nutrition questions I have as often as I have them throughout the day via text in a very quick manner. I also really love the variety of workouts he has led me through: weigh training, intense cardio, interval training, boxing/martial arts... I'm pretty convinced he can do anything. Three things you should know: 1. You will sweat... a lot! 2. You will be sore... really sore. 3. You will have a good time through it.
I originally was looking for a trainer who could teach me self-defense for a trip I was going to be taking where these skills might be needed in case of emergency. I found Vinny on thumbtack and was immediately impressed with his resume. He made the effort to come all the way from Santa Clarita to my house which I appreciated. Just after one lesson, I could see a difference in myself. After just a few lessons, Vinny has taught me so much. I am now more confident in what I can do and in my safety. He has helped me to realize that with practice and skill, I can take on any challenge that I may come up against. At 16, it means a lot to know that I have taken certain pre-cautions to ensure my safety and well-being which causes me to have a peace of mind. I owe it all to Vinny and I highly recommend him as a trainer because every girl deserves to know that they have the power and right to learn and defend themselves.

Johnny is awesome! I hired him to train my wife in self defense. I've been doing martial arts for years and have never managed to convince my wife to do it with me. It always intimidated her. But within a few lessons with Johnny she is now hooked. Johnny is very experienced working with women and with people without any background in martial arts. Carlos cares training people to defend themselves - he always goes above and beyond in reviewing and adding in extra lessons as well. His brother Omar is also greatly is appreciated; being the guinea pig and taking the brunt of much practice from neophytes. I highly recommend this course, and plan on going through it again.
Jorge is an exceptional trainer, teacher, coach, and motivator. He teaches me boxing and various forms of martial arts and each day that I work with him I learn so much -- about myself, about the craft, about Jorge's skills, and Jorge's abilities and patience as a teacher. I can feel myself making progress after every session with Jorge. His ability to break down movements and describe how they all fit together is incredible. He weaves in breath work, ancient wisdom, and practical skill application into every lesson. He positively challenges you to do your best each time, and his fabulous attitude and cheerfulness is contagious. I can't recommend him highly enough! Mr Hall came into my studio to give a self defense demonstration to my students. The lesson was educational and very detailed. He did an excellent job explaining the concept of each applications. I walked away learning quite a bit in only 1 session.
Sensei Ali Jafari is an excellent martial art trainer. He has been my martial art instructor for the past twenty years during which not only I have learned karate techniques and instructions, I have also learned many life lessons from him. His patience, enthusiasm, and willing to teach are among many positive qualities that he demonstrates on a consistent basis. He is exceptionally patient with children and individuals who may not learn as quickly as other student. Sensei Jafai is is extremely knowledgeable in Shotkan Karate, Taekwondo, and using weapons in martial art. Sensei Jafari always brings energy and positive attitude to the class. He often finds a balance between paying attention individually to the highest ranked students as well as the lowest rank person. Sensei Jafari is very observant and cares about every individuals progress. He is well informed about what specific and detail areas a student needs to work on in order to be successful in Karate and other areas of life.
We've been taking karate at American Kenpo Karate in both group and private class for two years. As an educator who works with both kids and young adults, I appreciate their care and professionalism. I know my daughter is safe with her instructors. She has thrived under their study and has earned her belts through hard work and well executed katas. In addition Kenpo is the best form of self defense for karate. The classes teach discipline, excellent form and responsibility. I would look here before considering anywhere else.
