Introduction: I am a classically trained cellist with Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Oberlin College Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music, respectively. I also have taken numerous string pedagogy courses that have been the foundation of my success in teaching cellists of all ages and abilities. I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional cello teacher with solid experience in teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition, and reading and listening skills. Most importantly, I believe that a strong foundation in the physicality of holding the instrument itself is essential in ensuring a pain-free future for each aspiring young cellist. Each student will develop an understanding of these concepts and skills in the context of the various musical styles, periods and genres that they want to learn, whether it be classical, pop, rock, folk, jazz, and everything in between! You will find me to be a down-to-earth and amiable person, with excellent communication skills and professional presentation. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students be motivated to achieve their very best. I strongly believe that music has the power to change lives, to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people and serve as a profound medium of personal expression.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I really just want to get to know you and get to know what your needs are. If you are a potential student, I highly encourage taking advantage of my half-price first introductory lesson so that you can feel out whether or not you think we'd be a good match. I believe that it is very important that a teacher and her student feel comfortable and safe, and free to express themselves naturally. What is you and/or your child's history with music? And is there any history with other instruments? What are your goals with the cello? What about it interests you? Once you have had your introductory lesson, we will talk about scheduling, preferred lesson length, payment plans, etc. I can teach out of my home studio or can travel to students. I have a contract and also a lesson responsibilities from that will need to be signed. I schedule lessons a month in advance and collect payment on a per-month or per-semester schedule. For weddings and private events, submit as many details about the event as possible and about the event VIP's. For example, will the event be outside? Will there be cover for the musicians? Would you like us to play acoustic or plug in? We will go over what genre or style of music you would like, and I will prepare a list of songs that I or yourself curate.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have bachelor and master degrees in cello performance from Oberlin College Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music respectively, where I took numerous music pedagogy courses. I have over 10 years experience teaching privately, as well as performing for live events and concerts, and recording for major motion picture studios.
