FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
45min, 1hr, 1.5 or 2 hour lesson prices depend on the location of the drum lesson, whether it be at your home/studio or my own private studio in North Hollywood. I also offer lesson packages at a discount price. Please message me for more details if interested thank you. Zoom lessons now in session as well :)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is important for me to first figure out what my students are interested in learning and discovering. Once that understanding is established, the grooving will begin! Some topics covered in the given lessons are as follows: * Learning songs * Playing to recordings * Proper technique for your hands, feet and good posture * Learning how to groove and have strong timing, whether you're playing rock, pop, hip-hop, funk, blues, jazz, reggae, folk, country, ECM, etc. * Coordination of the limbs with the goal to be able to play independently with each limb * Learning rudiments and how to play them around the drum set, creating your own grooves, licks, fills, style of playing and your own music * Dynamics, how to be able to play loud and soft with ease * Recording drums and how to prepare for studio recording * Performing live and how to warm up, focus, have a strong presence, be confident and have fun * Music business and how to make an income playing the drums, how to book gigs, and how to put yourself out there on the scene * Reading music and understanding music notation, rhythms and how to read charts * Odd-metered time signature playing and learning various polyrhythms * How to continue being inspired and on your path towards always evolving as a musician and artist, while developing your own true voice
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Aside from having a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance & Jazz Studies, I am constantly going out to jam sessions when I am not out gigging, performing and recording, where top LA players perform and allow other musicians to sit in and play. I am always rehearsing and writing music with my own projects, doing studio work, seeing concerts around the city, taking my own lessons with other great drummers and always practicing my own goals on the drum set, whether I'm playing along and learning my favorite music, watching youtube videos or working through my own exercise and drum books.
