James is an exceptional trainer! He has the best training certification, and so he is very knowledgable. More importantly, he pays attention to individual needs AND he has always got a plan for my next steps. He really knows how to assess where I am and then show me the way to meet my fitness goals. James is also very friendly, professional and inspiring. He has a lot integrity with his work and making sure I get a lit if bang for my buck. James is an amazing trainer. He is extremely attentive and patient, he is very big on form (which is so important), he tailors workouts to your specific needs and does a great assessment to be able to determine your limitations, injuries, etc. and creates a program to get you on the road to rehabilitation and challenges you so you see results. James also provides meal advice since nutrition is a large part of fitness. I've worked out my entire life and I have never encountered a trainer with more knowledge about physical fitness and health than James. He is not only a spectacular trainer, but he is also incredible at keeping me accountable - and I am probably one of his most disobedient clients! Not only does he make his routines fun, dynamic and different every time, but there is a great sense of personalized attention that is client-specific - you know that the workout routine is made for you in accordance to your needs and wants. I have trained with James Hawthorn since 2014. I recommend him enthusiastically and without qualification as someone who is knowledgeable, motivating and who helps me get results. I have worked with other trainers who helped me gain size, but they did not help me with my mobility or flexibility issues, which for me are self-limiting factors. James trains movements, which translates into more efficient workouts, less stress on joints, better technique, improved posture, and greater flexibility. I am very happy with the results and feel more like an athlete. Since he is a Boston Marathon-class runner, I decided to take advantage of his expertise and have been training for a half marathon. I have come to love running as my primary cardio workout â even the drills and interval training he assigns. James is generous with his time and consistently focused on me with no checking emails or texting during my training â he makes it all about me. He is very observant of my activity and has remarkably helpful on-the-spot advice (e.g., âhinge more at the hipsâ or âshift your weight to your right heelâ). - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Everything begins with a complimentary 90 minute assessment and workout at one of my state of the art facilities, or at the client's home. After that, sessions can be purchased in one of TWO ways, depending on your goals, needs, and preference: 1) 6-week training cycles for $65 / session and up: The more frequently you train each week, the lower the session price. Session prices includes your complete fitness solution: state of the art gym access, nutrition counseling, cardio program, and supplemental strength and flexibility program. Payment plans available. 2) Training packages of 10 - 40 sessions for $90 / session and up. This option also includes your complete fitness solution (see above). These sessions are not tied to a six-week training cycle and do not expire. Payment is collected for ten sessions at a time, with more flexible options possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I constantly do research to better serve every one of my current clients and attend to their ever changing goals, needs, and fitness levels. I re-certify ever two years through taking extensive courses that cover the latest research and developments in the areas that will best serve my client base. This year, I earned my recertification hours through NASM's nutrition counseling course.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?When I'm old and gray, I want to know without a shadow of a doubt that I've spent my life helping people make positive changes in their lives. With all the gifts that athletics have given me, I know that personal training is a way to do just that.
