FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Prices are based on the materials involved and the amount of "shop hours" the job will require. Simple jobs take less time, complicated jobs more. All of my prices for metal and gemstones are based on current market values. You may also want to provide your own materials - either to reuse in the jewelry or to exchange for credit (sometimes the "trade-in" will actually exceed the cost of labor and clients will leave with jewelry and cash). The price you will get for metals and gems will be current market value. If you provide your own materials, I will only charge you for the labor involved.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have continued training throughout my whole career. Most recently I have become an expert in using 3D rendering software to print waxes (something traditionally carved by hand, which I also still do). Computer rendering allows me to incorporate very detailed designs and produce pieces that require perfect symmetry.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most frequent requests I get are for engagement and wedding rings. For many people this will be the one time in their lives they make a major investment in jewelry. This is also a time when people deeply consider the significance of the jewelry - and they often want to tie in special symbols or meaning.
