FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly learning. Whether it's a new instruction book, workshop, college class or even a lesson from a fellow teacher, I am just as eager to learn something new as I was when I started playing. I pick up many things all the time that I pass along to the benefit of my students.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always admired my childhood guitar teacher because he knew so much and was an excellent player. I had always pushed myself to one day have the knowledge and ability that he had. I got started teaching when I was asked by a friend (a fellow guitar teaching) to substitute for him while he was sick. Teaching felt very natural and I could see that the students enjoyed the lessons I had given. I began gathering students and have been making my living as a full time musician and teacher ever since.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When looking for a teacher, you should try to find someone who is not only knowledgeable, but someone who is good at making your lessons fun as well as informative. You should look forward to each lesson and walk away from them eager to practice the things you have just learned and be inspired by who you are learning from.
