Oscar and his crew built me a gorgeous fence! I had approximately 75 feet of fencing that was completely falling apart. Oscar is very knowledgeable. He told me that he has been working on fences from the time he was a teenager. His quote was very fair and his timeline fast. I had gotten a quote from my longtime handyman, but I chose Oscar because he did the work twice as fast for half the price. He stuck to his bid, did not come up with overages and material charges were reasonable and not inflated at all. I will definitely call him again with all my fencing needs. He removed and disposed of the old fence, built me a horizontal redwood fence with metal supports and a new pedestrian gate. The neighbors have been commenting about how much they like the awesome fence. If you are looking for a trustworthy professional who does great work at a good price, look no further. One more thing, Oscar and his assistant also figured out how to fix my driveway gate in a matter of minutes. My handyman had (unsuccessfully) tried to repair it twice.

I contacted Mr. Scott Brown for a bid to perform the replacement of my patio cement which was badly cracked. He came to my residence the next day with an estimate that I was very pleased to accept. Mr. Brown started the work within a few days, although, we lost a weeks work due to the winter rains, he kept a tight schedule. The cement work was done perfectly and looks great. While on the job, I had Mr. Brown rebuild my fence gate which looks really nice. I am glad that I chose Custom Creations for my projects.

My motor crapped out on me at a very inconvenient time, and Garage&Gate were the most responsive company out of the four I contacted. They sent a tech to my house within 45 minutes and he replaced the motor in 30. I was pretty impressed. The price was reasonable, too.

Jimmie was great and the workmanship superb! I had an old fence replaced with a new fence done in one day! I love it! Jimmie was very patient listening to my stories. Communication with him was almost immediate which was a big plus! Keeping his number handy for other potential "projects". See you again soon Jimmie!

Vahe was wonderful from start to finish, and only a few days after the fact, our lives are already considerably improved by the work he did (a massive and somewhat involved furniture-building project).

I needed a lot of work as home had been neglected for several years. Jay came to estimate window installation, and I found he was knowledgeble in all areas of building, updating and code. I found him to be trustsworthy and he never pushed his ideas or asked for more funds than were originally agreed. He works clean and is very personable which helps when you have someone working in your home. I have recommended him to friends and family..their only complaint was they had run out of projects for him.

Both times, a wonderful job was done and we are very happy with how everything looks. Juan and his teammate are professsional and kind. We would definitely hire after hours handyman for any other house related jobs we may need. Highly recommend them!

The Egal Construction team was one of the most down-to-earth, honest contractors I've ever hired for a job in our office building. When we ran into an issue, they jumped on fixing it in an impossibly timely manner. Five stars, 10/10, all of the accolades I can give. Hire these guys!

The best investments we've made in our Camarillo home were built by Joe Mccormik and his team. The first were two patio covers which are both good looking and well built. The other was replacing our dilapidated redwood fence with a sturdy new one including an awesome new gate. He used the best materials and everything was perfectly fit for appearance and function. Joe was very professional, punctual, easy to work with and responsive. All at a fair price. I highly recommend Joe for any home improvement / construction job.

Perfectly professional f I'm the very first meeting on Fred came, measured precisely, took all the necessary references, and a week later they came and fabricated the gate on site. It's a perfect replica of the existing fence. And all this for a price no one else could compete with. I highly recommend Bdlf fence!

Both Moshe and Alex were both understanding and helpful in attending to my construction needs. I recently moved into my first house and needed a dividing fence. My neighbors were great in that we all meet Alex, Moshe and Christian the day of construction. The price was economical for me and my neighbors, so much so that I also hired them to put a mini gate on the side of the house, window gates on the vents of my house, and a mini demolition job on an ill placed planter. Yeah, it was a lot of work, but they worked with my budget and delivered on time and in some instances sooner. The house looks amazing with the custom made bars, the newly created car space, and the fence. Now, my dog can run free on the property and I don’t have to worry about her going into my neighbors yard. Additionally, I had a trespasser a few days before construction of the fence, but I feel more secure about people not thinking they can just walk on my property. My neighbors and I are very happy and pleased with the professional work done by this company. Moshe even offered great suggestions about landscaping for my backyard, which is a bit of a bear at the moment. I’ll be taking him up on the offer to get landscaping assistance in the near future. Seriously, Christian is a wizard at construction and Moshe is a secret creative for sure. I would highly recommend this company to handle your construction needs. I’m already recommending them to my coworkers in the County and friends I know who own properties throughout LA. You won’t be disappointed with the work and the price is good for your budget. I’m cleaning up my backyard on my own, but I can’t wait to work with Moshe and the landscaper, Eran, to help me design a peaceful, zen like backyard. I know it will be a major project, so I’m building up financially and mentally for it. I’m excited to see what they come up with for me. Yes, I’m a very happy client, past and future. Thanks, Moshe, Alex, and Christian 😊!

Abel removed 400 feet of steel/aluminum fencing in less than 4 hours at a reasonable price including credit for reusable sections of the fence. The fence had been bolted to the cement pool deck. Along with the fence he cut and cut the bolts flush with the cement leaving a smooth surface ready for re-coating the deck.

Jason helped me move a huge couch from the 2nd floor of my building. The couch wouldn’t fit in the stairwell or elevator, so Jason brought his rope and equipment to help swing it over the rail. Overall excellent, very responsive and dependable person to work with.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
