About

I have been wanting to learn to play the guitar for years. Finally, this past Christmas I decided to give myself guitar lessons. A little "to me, from me" gift. I found Dave through word of mouth here in Ojai. Multiple people told me he was a great teacher. I have enjoyed my lessons so much! Dave has extensive background in different styles of playing guitar. He is a professional. He is very patient and breaks things down in a way that is easy to understand. I really can't believe I have leaned so much in such a short time. I highly recommend Dave if you want to learn to play the guitar!

About

The G4 Guitar Method: Using a system to learn guitar will save you time, because you will learn more efficiently. The G4 Guitar Method is based on the 80/20 principle, where we focus on the 20% that produces 80% of results. You can literally learn guitar in a fraction of the usual time. Group and private lessons are offered once a week. Bio on Ken: Ken has been playing guitar for 25 years. He enjoys playing classical and acoustic style guitar and plays on a regular basis for his church in Ventura, CA. As head of the music department, he oversees and leads all practices and rehearsals for the choir, special singing groups and musical special events. A Few Words from Ken: "If you take lessons from me, you get 25 years of playing experience and 19 years of experience in teaching both kids and adults in many different settings such as classroom, private, on-the-job training in the Air Force, Sunday school and of course, guitar instruction. I have owned and started managing musical lesson studios 9 years ago, so you get a time-proven system that is supporting the actual lessons. Many teachers put very little (if any) emphasis on this aspect of providing lessons, and as a result, parents get very frustrated with the teacher outside of lesson time, because they don't know how to run a business. Along with years of teaching, business management and maturity forged by military service and parenthood, I love what I do! It translates into a very enjoyable lesson for kids and adults alike. The lessons are not just focused and informative but lots of fun! Something else that I have that many guitar teachers lack today is a firm grasp on music theory. They can teach your child where to put his or her fingers on the guitar and read "guitar tablature," but they can't teach your child how to actually read music. I have completed nearly all music related requirements toward a bachelor's degree in music. With me, your child will become a well-rounded musician, not just a guitar player. With music theory, he or she will be able to learn other instruments much more easily. I currently use the G4 Guitar Method and am a part of a growing community of guitar teachers from around the world. Not only do you get my personal experience, but also 63 other guitar teachers! We share experiences and ideas. We ask questions on our G4 Facebook group and have live video meetings to help each other serve our students better. If I don't have the answer, you can bet that one of us will!"

About

I love my 123 Rock guitar lessons! I have taken lessons from Marcos Moscat for over 6 years now and I am still amazed at how much I learn each week. The lessons match what I want to learn and always open a door to learning something new that I can apply to many songs. My intention was to be able to play songs for my students at school, but he has taken me way beyond that. He has taught me across many genres and styles and has taught me music theory as well. He is brilliant on guitar and makes learning complicated pieces very accessible and fun! I have found so much joy through playing. I do rock now!!!

About

Taylor is an awesome guitar instructor. I started taking lessons 2 years ago, I had never taken any musical instrument lessons before. Now I have started playing in our church worship band and I absolutely love it. Taylor is a very encouraging instructor-always focusing on the positive but definitely has challenged me which has helped me grow as a guitar player. He does a great job of balancing my lessons with practical skills and also music theory. Taylor is very good at helping me set short and long term goals which keeps me motivated to practice. Taylor is also very mindful of our lesson time and always makes sure to teach to the last minute of our scheduled lesson(and then some). Taylor is clearly a talented musician and passionate about his craft-that passion comes through in his teaching, he teaches because he loves guitar and music and he wants others to love it too. I highly recommend him as a guitar instructor!

About

I go to Dan for mandolin lessons and always leave feeling musically satisfied. He is very encouraging but always has ways to improve my playing. He knows that playing music is all about creativity and having fun, and he conveys that in every lesson. One thing I particularly enjoy is that when I have a particular song memorized well enough, he will jump in and play along with me. This is great because one of the best ways to improve your playing is to listen to others who have mastered what you are playing. On several occasions (almost all of them really :P) I have listen to how Dan interprets a tune, and incorporate that into my playing. Dan is very pleasant to study with. He never scolds you for coming to lessons unprepared. He is flexible when his schedule can allow it. He does not set a timer and kick you out of his house when your hour is up, but starts to wrap up the lesson and makes sure you understand everything covered before setting you free to create on your own. Dan is one of my favorite teachers ever and I strongly recommend him to anyone looking to learn Mandolin, Guitar, Bass, Banjo, or even math or science!
