My wife started our 15 year old daughter on violin lessons over Christmas break- since then she has gained confidence in her playing and the sound is much improved as well. She loves the duets that her teacher brings to play together, and it has taught her how to listen more and helped in school orchestra as well. Thank you Jamie!

I wanted a teacher that could work with an older adult who not had piano lessons since childhood. After many years, I wanted to challenge myself by getting back into piano and I wanted to bring music back into my life. I was a bit nervous about making the commitment and about the time investment that would be required. I also didn’t know a good teacher so I asked around. Howard’s name came up. He was recommended as a patient and knowledgeable teacher that would do wonders with students. Howard’s approach is not the conventional one that I experienced as a child. He presents many types of approaches and uses lots of tools and techniques to build your skills and understanding of the structure of music. Now, I’m stretching myself to learn, remember and apply these skills and it feels really good! I actually enjoy practicing my piano. Now thats a testimony to Howard’s influence! If you are looking for a teacher that can accommodate your needs, encourage and inspire you, meet Howard and try him out. I’m confident that you will be very pleased with him as a professional and as a teacher.

As an adult who previously played but stopped for many years before coming back to my violin, Jazzly has been a perfect match for me; she immediately zeroed in on my strengths and weaknesses and quickly put together a study/practice plan which has me making progress on the road towards my playing goals. I look forward to and enjoy each lesson. I could't recommend her more highly.

My two (2) kids go to this school for Piano Lessons. It's a great school with teachers who care and they even got (ONE) of my kids to actually play correctly and she now likes playing the piano. They are strict but have real concern for the students and offer a great environment to excel. I would recommend Donna Lee and her Music School anytime. A+++++++

My daughter needed a violin teacher and we found Grace on thumbtack. It was not only easy to set up the lessons but she's so professional and knowledgeable that I couldn't be more satisfied with her as a teacher. Her patience and well structured lessons have not only educated my daughter but have encouraged my daughter's desire to play the violin.

My 10 yr old son has been taking private Violin lessons at home with Brandon for the last 4-5 months. My son enjoys learning from Brandon. He gives a lot of focus on getting the basics right, something which my son didn't learn in his group Violin classes at school.. My son finds him very funny and likes that Brandon gives him little tips like rhymes/beats which help him remember his notes better. There are times he comes a little late because of heavy traffic but he always sends a message and lets us know about it.We are looking forward to learning more from him.

Jennifer has been my violin teacher since January 2017. I really enjoy working with her. She's very flexible with scheduling. In our lessons, she selects pieces that are appropriate for my skill level, and she is very, very encouraging which I appreciate greatly. I feel fortunate to be her student.

    About

My students receive a music education that is tailored to fit their needs as a student. Unlike many teachers who teach all students with one method, I am interested in what the student wants to pursue and why they enjoy music. My students will not only study classical piano or violin, but will learn music theory, develop ear training skills and improvisational skills, and learn to play with a beautiful sound from the very beginning. Students will be encouraged to listen to and play music that they love.

    About

I have over 20 years of teaching experience, and have taught beginners and advanced students alike. As a classically trained professional musician I have played in numerous orchestras (community and professional. I have performed in other settings that include jazz, bluegrass, folk, rock and country music.

    About

While I love performing, my true passion lies in teaching violin I have been trained in violin pedagogy through a program offered at Biola University. I specifically love working with children. In my past experience with teaching children, I have had the privilege of seeing their simple joy and eagerness. I believe that children can best thrive and learn if their learning styles are catered to and if they are loved. One of my goals as a teacher is to discover how I can best help the student learn. Is the student a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner? Does the student better understand the technical concepts if I use helpful analogies? My greatest goal as a teacher is to love my students. Originally, Suzuki initiated his violin teaching program not for the purposes of raising musical prodigies (which incidentally ended up happening), but for the purposes of nurturing children into noble souls who eagerly engaged in the pursuit of goodness, beauty, and truth. I believe that since goodness, beauty, and truth are inherent in music; it has the potential to transform someone's life. However, without the catalyst of love, music can be rendered to a mere means of selfish gain. I believe that it is through the unconditional love that parents and teachers offer their kids/students, regardless of their skill, that the students begin to explore the beauty of music. As far as my teaching methods are concerned, I prefer using the Suzuki method to teach beginners. The Suzuki method is a highly esteemed violin pedagogy method that allows students to play pieces by ear (as opposed to reading music). I believe that the Suzuki method allows the beginner students to concentrate on technical concepts and ear training skills without the added complication of learning how to read notes. About half way through book 2 (out of the 10 suzuki books), I like to introduce the student to note reading with supplemental sight-reading, rhythm, and etude books. While there are 10 suzuki books, I will only teach up to book 5. After that point, I like to choose pieces that will best suite the student's technical needs. I also like to supplement the Suzuki books with additional positioning and scale books. About me: I have been studying the violin since the age of 5. I have studied at the Colburn school of music in Los Angeles with Dr. Chan Ho Yun and I currently study with Elizabeth Larson at Biola University (Violin Performance Major). My achievements include: soloing with the Loma Linda Academy Chamber Orchestra, leading the Biola String Quartet, performing in a masterclass taught by the world renowned Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio), and performing with the Biola Symphony Orchestra as assistant concertmaster.

    About

Olesya’s Story Music Teacher LA came to an existence out of one incredibly skilled teacher’s and musician’s passion for music and teaching, her creative ability to motivate and excite students, and her desire to spread the love of music and learning to musically inclined children and adults. Olesya MacNeil is the founder of the Music Teacher LA. As a child she studied piano and voice and took her first piano lessons from her mother at age 5. Olesya attended a music school in the former Soviet Union for 7 years and then pursued her Master’s in Music, Psychology and Pedagogy at the Omsk State University in Russia. During her years at the university, Olesya performed on stage, on the radio, and worked with musically gifted children from the local schools. During her years of study, Olesya completed extensive research on children’s intelligence relative to the study of music. After immigrating to the US in 1997, Olesya continued teaching music. She taught the children of Larry King, Billy Baldwin, Dan Beckerman (the alternate governor of LA Kings),Susannah Grant (who won the Oscar for Erin Brockovich’s movie script), Bennett Schneir (the producer of many known animation films),and many other established film producers, screenwriters, political leaders, sportsmen, owners of sport teams and financial CEOs. Olesya also worked with special needs kids. Working with children was the most incredible gift for Olesya. She was very popular and sought after teacher. The families she worked with were referring each other to Olesya and they were meeting and building new friendships at Olesya’s recital parties. Olesya worked 7 days a week, providing at one point a total of 53 in-home private lessons each week. Olesya has been traveling to her students and working 12 to 16 hours each day, including weekends. Olesya wished to teach fewer students, but she created such close ties with all the families, the families knew each other, they all liked Olesya, and thus Olesya simply could not quit any student without offending the family. Olesya has been teaching each student for 6-7 years on average. During such long period of time, her students’ goals and achievements became part of Olesya’s life. Olesya’s experiences working with different people were a book to write. Olesya once taught a beautiful 7 year old girl with amazingly big and sad blue eyes. The girl was the oldest child of 5 children in the religious family. She loved her piano lessons. She rarely practiced. When Olesya asked her why she didn’t practice she honestly said that she really wanted, but her mom asked her to hold her newborn sister… This 7 year old really enjoyed playing the piano, but sometimes she would question why she should learn the piano or anything else, “Because I will be married the moment I’ll finish the school. My family will find someone for me. I will never go to work and will have many children.” Olesya was using all her creative ideas to ignite this little girl’s desire to learn and feel unique and important. This little girl can grow and help her own children love and understand music in the future. Olesya developed individual homework method for each of her students to encourage them to practice. Olesya was satisfied seeing her students succeed and happy to learn more and more. Olesya’s recital parties were very inspiring and fun. She would “rent” a mansion or a large house of one of her students. She would break all her students into 15 performers per recital. One of her students baked cupcakes, where each cupcake was a music measure from a famous opera. Olesya trained her students how to successfully perform and overcome their shyness in recitals. Her methods worked. There were happy moments in students’ lives when they performed in recitals and students’ parents saw their achievements. Olesya has been saving her students’ drawings, essays, sayings, photos… She has saved it as very precious items from her life. After several years in the private piano teaching in the US, rather overwhelmed by demand for someone of her talent and teaching skills, Olesya assembled music teachers with her caliber of credentials and expertise under one roof and named it “Music Teacher LA”. It is not easy to become a Music Teacher LA teacher. Of all the musicians Olesya interviews who wish to join the team, only 2% meet her rigorous standards of: ?Advanced music education ?Professional musical accomplishments ?Education and experience in teaching ?The special and unique type personality and creativity that motivates students ?THE BURNING DESIRE TO TEACH vs. MAKE MONEY TEACHING MUSIC Music Teacher LA today offers music lessons on all instruments and voice, expert piano tuning, and music summer camps.
