I had a bathroom lighting fixture in a rental house that required repair. It was a small job. Arisel met me at the house on time and was prepared for the job. He was professional, articulate, and completed the work in a timely manner. I learned about other types of work that he was able to do and I will not hesitate to hire Arisel in the future. I highly recommend Arisel. Hire this man, you will NOT be disappointed.

I had the pleasure of hiring Valentin to help me with our lawn sprinkler repair needs. We had multiple issues, from broken lines, to a valve that needed to be replaced, to reprogramming our stations, and Valentin addressed all of these in an orderly manner. He walked me through every aspect of the job and gave me a fair price. We would hire him again!

I hired David for some much needed lawn maintenance. He gave me an estimate and did the work. His work was exemplary and above and beyond what I expected. He remembered things like to make sure my pool was covered so his work wouldn't get into the water and he made suggestions on what would look good. I requested him to come back every two weeks to keep up the good work. His work is excellent. He is reliable and very personable. I am very happy with his service and would recommend him fully.

I hired Gusanito to install porcelain tiles in my bathroom. He was very prompt--being the first contractor to contact me on thumbtack--and quickly responded to my text messages whenever I had a question. He takes his time and is very detailed in his work. He is also willing to help you with other problems. For example, in addition to installing the tiles, I also wanted to change my sink faucet and shower handles. He agreed to do the extra work at a reasonable price. The tile installation went smoothly, however, we ran into plumbing issues which he couldn't solve. I'm giving him four stars because I hired him on thumbtack for tile installation services, not plumbing. Nonetheless, he agreed to bring his cousin (who is an experienced plumber) over the next day to change my sink faucet at no extra cost. The total work took about two full days to complete, but I'm sure it would have been less if we didn't run into the plumbing issues. So I recommend him but make sure you talk with him thoroughly about what you want to accomplish.

Highly recommend!! Rene totally transfomed our yard, and put in 4 very long days to get it done. His team is extremely professional and respectful of our home, took their time and went above and beyond what we expected from a lawn care team. Installed new storm drainage, rebuilt part of our fence, and fixed a old irrigation system -- all on time and for a fair price. They even called us to let us know we'd overpayed (added up receipts incorrectly) and offered to drive over with a refund. We're very happy to have found this team!

Ricardo inspected the work to be done, gave an estimated, fixed a time and showed up punctually to finish all the tasks agreed upon. Very professional. Did not try to sell anything that was not needed rather focused on what was needed. And gracefully brought me up to speed on what needs to be done for proper lawn care. I will definitely hire him again for any landscaping / gardening work

Quality and Value of the work is great for one time lawn maintenance. Only issue is Anthony rescheduled the appointment twice with short notice, and which wasted my time waiting for him.

Ricardo is a very nice person & great to work with. We had him & his crew replace our 2,200sqft lawn with new sod. Our lawn was taking over by gophers. He installed gopher barrier & replaced my old irrigation system. I gave Ricardo a number & kept it within my budget 👍🏼 Definitely recommend.

Enrique showed up on time and went above and beyond for the extensive one-time weeding project I hired him for. Not only did he beautifully clear the areas we discussed he also cleared a few additional small areas and also cleared all the weeds in the sidewalk/walkways/driveway edges. He even edged the yard while he was there. Everything was left immaculately clean after he was done. I've decided to hire him for bi-weekly lawn maintenance as I was so thoroughly impressed with his timeliness, responsiveness, fair prices and high quality work.

Saia repaired our vine covered, seriously leaning fence ahead of schedule and expertly. We did not want to replace it, so he found a way to repair and reset in cement two posts without damaging our foliage. It's standing tall now. He was professional and prompt.

Angel cared for all areas of our home including both sides, front and backyard lawn areas, pruned ALL trees and plants, weeded everything, and even hauled away all the leftover trimmings. He not only made it super easy to schedule the work, but to also meet for initial consult. I look forward to continuing to work with Angel for our lawn maintenance needs.

Agustin Beas completed his first time with us on April 4. He trimmed, pruned, mowed and edged and did exceptional work. He took about 3 hours and the clean up was impeccable. He will now come every 2 weeks to mow our small back lawn and do trimming only when necessary and do anything else I might ask like fix a sprinkler head in our front yard etc.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What's the best way to maintain your lawn?

Keeping a lawn lush and green requires consistent mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing and more. If your lawn is particularly large, it may make sense to hire a full-service lawn care provider. Whether you take a DIY approach or bring in the experts, maintaining your lawn requires a range of tasks.

Plan to mow the lawn often, allowing it stay longer than may seem convenient — longer grass is healthier grass. The general rule is to cut off no more than a third of the grass blade. This helps prevent damage to the lawn as well as keeping weeds from taking root. It’s also important to remove any weeds, then prevent new ones from growing. In spring, consider spraying a pre-emergent herbicide on your lawn to prevent crabgrass and other types of weeds from sprouting from seed. During other seasons, broadleaf weeds like dandelions can be pulled by hand or sprayed with weed killers. The best time to water your lawn is early in the morning, allowing the sun to help dry the grass. Make sure to thoroughly soak the lawn so that the water penetrates several inches into the ground.

Lawn care also requires feeding; look for a mixture of fast- and slow-release fertilizers that include nitrogen. Some lawns also benefit from aeration, which creates small holes to let air, water and nutrients penetrate the grass roots. Although most homeowners can manage these tasks on their own, a full-service lawn care company can handle them on a regular schedule, taking the guesswork out of maintaining a beautiful lawn.

How do you look after your lawn?

Having a beautiful lawn doesn’t just happen by magic. A multi-pronged approach to lawn care will result in a healthy lawn that will have your neighbors green with envy. The national average price for multi-service lawn care ranges from $40 to $50. Whether you tackle the project yourself or hire a lawn care professional, looking after your lawn requires consistent work. A baseline of lawn care is keeping your grass mowed and your irrigation system working properly. Fertilizing plants and grasses, as well as trimming and pruning foliage, may promote the health of your plants and lawn. Many lawn care pros offer different packages with varying monthly fees depending on your lawn size and the services you desire. Here are a few examples of average lawn care prices:

  • 1,000- to 2,500-square-foot lawn: $60-$90 per month
  • 5,000-square-foot lawn or larger: $110-$150 per month.
    • Includes lawn maintenance, cleanups and irrigation repairs. The company trims shrubs, pulls weeds, blows out yard waste, fertilizes and does minor irrigation repairs.
  • Up to 8,000-square-foot property: $30 per week/$120 per month.
  • 8,001- to 15,000-square-foot property: $35 per week/$140 per month.
  • 15,001- to 20,000-square-foot property: $40 per week/$160 per month.
    • Includes mowing all turf grass areas; trimming grass away from fences, structures, trees, and lawn edges; and clearing or blowing all grass trimmings from driveways, sidewalks, curbs, etc.

How much is lawn care service?

Ensuring a lush, green lawn is so much more than simply mowing and watering the grass; it’s also pulling existing weeds and preventing future ones, fertilizing with the right nutrients, and coaxing new grass to grow in patchy spots. For many homeowners, a full-service lawn care company is the best way to maintain a beautiful lawn. The cost for professional lawn care depends on the size of the lawn and the services the homeowner chooses, as well as the location. For the typical suburban residence, the national average cost of full-service lawn care maintenance is $40-$50 per hour. Depending on the size of your lawn, that can cost you just $100 per month or more than $1,000 per month, but the average is about $350 per month. Most monthly services include a weekly cut, especially in the spring, as well as edging, weeding, and blowing the driveway, sidewalks and porches.

What should I do to my lawn in the spring?

Spring is the perfect time to start thinking about lawn care. The ground is recovering from a long, cold winter, plants are starting to grow, and the earth is ready to receive new seeds. When the weather starts to warm, the first step in your lawn care strategy is deciding what you would like to achieve and what you need to do to make it happen. Your next step is to start cleaning up. Rake your lawn free of decomposing leaves, trim back shrubs and branches, and clear out all the weeds. Once your lawn is cleared of debris, tend to your irrigation system. Test your system and decide whether any repairs are necessary. Now it’s time to nourish the lawn. If you opt to aerate your lawn in spring, the national average cost is $70-$100. Consult with your lawn care pro, as some regions benefit from only aerating in fall. If you have bare spots, you can overseed the lawn to encourage new growth. Next you’ll want to fertilize the lawn to ensure it grows in rich and lush. Professional fertilization services may range from under $50 to over $200, depending on your lawn size. If you have a bad weed problem, you (or your lawn care pro) can apply pre-emergent herbicide to prevent a weed outbreak. Make sure the irrigation system is routinely watering your lawn, and then enjoy watching the grass grow.
