Joule was great! She taught me how to do things with my dog that he’s never done before and gave me a ton of advice. I definitely recommend her services. Thanks Joule!

I got a puppy from a shelter about 4 months ago. She is super sweet super loving and knows how to sit stay and down. She is great with me and my boyfriend and great with other dogs. Unfortunately the one thing that she isn't great at is being near other people. She is so afraid of other people that she barks and barks. It was getting so bad we were nervous to take her out in public. So far I've done one private training session with In Line Canine and it was extremely helpful! We learned so much in one session! That night she sent us 4 weeks of homework. Each week is a stepping stone of how to help our pup to be less scared. We assumed it would be a pre made homework list but it's amazingly detailed and personal toward me and my dog! She also sent me a list of recommended toys for my dog to help her mentally and physically. I can't wait to make another session with her! I highly recommend In Line Canine!!!!!!

I can't say enough about the excellent care Lorissa Rutledge has given my animals . I currently have a dog and two horses. She is prompt with their feeding schedules. My horses were probably more intense in care-giving. There were many steps needed in feeding , graining and medications . Also I had the added bonus of her exercising my horses 2 times a week. She's an excellent rider. Her attention to detail gave me peace of mind in leaving my animals behind, sometimes for as long as two weeks. Such a testimony for my animals health, their daily routine was not disturbed. I highly recommend Lorissa, you will not be disappointed .

My German Shepherd is difficult to handle. Joule has many years of training and had no problems with my dog. I am so happy I finally found someone to watch him. Joule took great care of him and I thank her very much.

David's service was top notch! He responded immediately to my request for a bid and clearly communicated with us throughout the training process. Not only were his services reasonably priced, but he delivered above and beyond what we payed for. He spent hours with our dog each session, and we saw improvements in his behavior from the very first session. I would highly recommend his services to anyone. David delivered intensive and effective training for an unbeatable price!

We have used Hooves to Paws twice now when we had to go out of town for a week or more. We have been very happy both times. We have horses, goats, chickens, cats and dogs, and everyone was happy and healthy when we came home! She is very professional and the house was exactly as we left it.

        About

I love animals and caring for them, though my life does not permit me to own a pet for long. I walk, feed, and provide some one on one with an animal that is home for long periods of time. I have a second nature with animals and can calm scared and nervous pets with ease. I love all pets, not just the normal cats, dogs and such.

Hey. My name is Andrew Faulkner, and I'm a dog trainer in Northern California. I got my start training gun dogs for a large kennel in Oroville, CA. Along with training retrievers, I am also very experienced with all-breed obedience training and client relations. Teaching owners how to handle/continue training with their dog is a passion of mine. Most recently, I have been working with medical alert dogs, specifically diabetic alert dogs on obedience, public access and scent and alert training. I have been training for over 8 years and love every second of it!

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

        • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
        • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
        • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
        • What are your different walk routes?
        • When will you pick up and drop off?
        • How will we communicate?
        • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
        • What’s your cancellation policy?
        • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
        • How and how often do I pay you?
        • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
