I hired Jeff Mott and his team at Mott Restoration via the Theodore Payne Foundation. He oversaw the restoration of my entire landscape to California native plants and did an extraordinary job. I had in fact removed all plants from my property several years ago, and basically had a lot full of weeds when we started the work. I knew all along that I wanted to go exclusively “native” and had researched and created an extensive plant list but hadn’t planted a single one until Jeff and his excellent team came along. Jeff is exceedingly knowledgeable about everything native and has years of experience cultivating them from infancy to maturity. He fine-tuned my ideas and of course suggested many species that he felt would thrive in my micro climate here in Eagle Rock. He found the individual plants from various nurseries and then like an artist at his easel set out the specific placement for more than 100 across the empty terrain. Jeff and his team have created a remarkable natural chaparral garden – complete with wired lighting, DG pathways and new poured-in-place cement steps leading to the front porch. Jeff’s great love of native plants (all plants too of course) is evident by the enthusiasm and passion he brings to his work. His quiet confidence was always a calming presence when unexpected problems arose. He has an understanding of each plant’s needs and a gift for echoing nature’s composition. Btw, if thumbtack had allowed me to choose all five qualities (work quality, professionalism, responsiveness, value, and punctuality) I would have, but they limit the choices to three. Thanks Jeff!!! I love my California native garden.

Jeff and his team did excellent work to update my CA native front and back lawns. Jeff is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about CA natives. He kept me informed on the work stages and responded promptly to any problems that came up.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As each yard/project is different, it is difficult to quote pricing without a consultation. We have experience with the rebate programs offered for turf removal.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will typically get an idea of what our customer has in mind for their yard space and will then schedule an appointment for our designer to meet with the customer so we can get a quote worked up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our company founder/owner, Jeff, is a Certified California Native Plant Landscaper and began earning his extensive experience with design of native plants and landscape installation 20 years ago when he worked at Tree of Life Nursery (the largest native California plant nursery in the state). Jeff also farmed organically for 9 years following his time at the nursery, bringing marginal soil back to a state of vibrant fertility with the vision of creating community around the land.
