Eli fixed our very heavy sliding door that wasn't sliding or closing properly. Now it slides and closes better than before! Very impressed. Will use them again!
T.J. is absolutely AMAZING!!! He fixed my front door, bathroom door, and a hole in my entryway wall! He’s extremely reasonable and I highly recommend him for any work you need around the house. 5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Two years ago, in October 2013, I met Doug from Gillespie Doors. He came to my house, to install a new garage access door (the current one wouldnt withstand the weather elements) with a built-in doggy door. Having a construction background, I knew that it was very important to hire an experienced person when hanging doors. Doug instructed me to get the dog door that I wanted and he would put it in for me prior to him showing up. Doug was supposed to be at the house at 7 am, however, he arrived 15 minutes early (rarely in these days). He had the old jamb out and the new door fit in about 30 minutes. When it was completed, the door looked like it had been there for 40 years. Very professional install, thats what happens when you hire someone with a contractors license whose number is 742587 and has what I have come to learn is over 25 years, in California, installing doors. Last year, in December; I called on Doug again but with a very different problem. I hired a General Contractor (GC) to rehab my mother-in-law rental house. (The GC was to replace all interior, exterior and metal security doors. When I took my mother-in-law to look at the rehab progress we saw disturbing door hanging practices, such as exterior doors having been installed with spray foam and a few screws and the back, exterior door of which the contractor disturbingly bought and installed an out-swing door. When we followed up with the GC, the response was along the lines of we put in like for like. If you want it done different do it yourself. What happened to doing it correctly the first time?) With that said, I called Doug at Gillespie Doors and he moved around his schedule to get me in the next day. Upon arrival he noticed several items that were incorrect with the doors that my GC installed, and only a licensed door professional would be able to tell these issues: The entry door that the GC installed was placed over the old rotten oak sill, which Doug found was loose and the GC tried to fix it in place with expanding foam insulation. That did not work because, after Doug removed the poorly installed pre-hung unit, the oak sill literally fell out. While removing the pre-hung unit, Doug noticed that there were hardly any shims holding the frame in place, but instead the GC had screwed the door jamb in place (roughly), and then filled it in with foam insulation and without any shims so nothing was plumb or square. This then caused the entry door to rub on the floor when opened halfway, and would not allow for carpet or padding for that matter. On the rear door of the house, Doug found the GC installed that as poorly as the front door as it also had the expanding foam insulation and very few shims, but it was the WRONG door completely. The GC bought an out swinging door, and installed it backwards to swing in. If the GC would have left that in place, in Dougs estimation, it would have leaked like a sieve. Doug also noticed on this door that the installer had filled a gap in the rough opening with small pieces of 1 x 4 when a single piece was called for. Doug is a hard worker and knows his trade. Hanging doors is an art and from the examples above a GC shouldnt be screwing around hanging doors. Doug correctly installed my Entry Door along with the Rear Door. He also re-hung the security doors that my GC took off that never re-installed. Doug went so far above and beyond that he helped me fix an interior door that the GC never cut the bottom off to allow for carpet. I am totally satisfied with the workmanship from Doug. I will only be calling him to handle all of my door projects in the future.
Houman helped us improve our home by removing a large, outdated fireplace and chimney. This was no simple job. It required hammering out 7 tons of brick and concrete that made up the fireplace/chimney. The vacated space was then rebuilt to house a French door. An adjacent existing sliding door was also replaced with an identical French door. Houman was always on time, and held true to his estimate. He is very detail oriented, communicative, very clean, and organized. It was not just Houman, the rest of team were equally amiable and trustworthy. The best thing that I can say is that we will definitely employ Houman for future renovations to our home.
Pedro did an excellent job mounting my patio glass sliding door. His quality of work was extremely high. He was very reasonable on his price. I would definitely use him again.
John worked above and beyond to get my sliding glass door working.
Jamie did a fantastic job. Needed trim on a door and sliding door. Uneven surface...wasnt easy. With his skills didnt even look like there was a problem...great work. He also fixed part of an ipe rail that others cracked...again he knows what hes doing and fixed the others mistake. Great work, easy going, does what he says hes going to do. Highly recommend.
Ali Was definitely the man for the job. I needed some large plexiglass posters mounted and needed someone who had experience with that. He did an amazing job. I’m very happy and I’m now hiring him to install a screen door for me. He’s also very personable and down to earth.
Very professional. Elias was prompt and texted ahead with his arrival time. I’m so glad I chose Thumbtack. To say I’m pleasures with his workmanship would be under stating it. Amazing job, he even framed out my doggie door to help support it. I supplied the 2x4 and he cut it to fit. HIRE THIS GUY, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Elias.
Gudiel was on time and very helpful. We had to take off our sliding glass door and move a bunch of furniture out. He had a positive attitude and made sure there was nothing else he could do to help before leaving. I would absolutely recommend him!
Oscar and his crew did an amazing job building a wall and door for me. He and his team were professional and fast. Excellent job! I will use them for future projects.
I hired Mark to clean my garage door and my driveway and the side of my fence with a pressure washer machine. Driveway had some paint and fluid from the truck and garage door and fence had bird crap and random marks. He got everything off and it looks good as new.

Responsive handymen are hard to find, but we struck gold with Scott. He's great at communicating and offered several options to resolve the front door from sticking. In addition he installed a new lock and painted the door. Our door looks brand new and closes effortlessly. I highly recommend Scott and will use him again for other projects.
Installed a ned deadbolt on out front door.
Craig installed an interior door in my house and did a fantastic job! He was very nice and respected my request to use the existing door jamb instead of installing a new one- which would’ve been a little more messy. Furthermore, he also fixed issues with two of my other doors with no additional charge! He was super professional, personable and went above and beyond to improve our house!
Very responsive - was available for an appointment next day. The electronic lock was not closing properly and it was fixed quickly and also rekeyed for a very good price. I’m pleased and would recommend/use again.
Mark did a great job on my screen door!
Raul and his helper got here on time. They did a very good job on my door and were finished by 2:00PM.
Edgar Villanueva worked on an assortment of home and yard renovations for me as I prepared my home as a rental, which included painting, cabinet installation, decorative moulding, mold, gas furnace removal, door alignment, gardening, fence realignment, demolition, and hauling. Edgar was excellent to work with in every way. His work ethic is Impeccable. His is an honest, straightforward and trustworthy person and a surprisingly calming presence throughout the process. Edgar is bi-lingual, well-spoken, and extremely diligent in every step of the journey. His prices are competitive, but extremely fair! I offer my highest recommend for Edgar Villanueva and his team of workers. You will be extremely happy that you chose him to service your home improvement requirements.
