I participated in online prep with Christine for the SAT & ACT, she was truly an amazing teacher. It was as if we met in person twice a week! She took the time to make sure I was understanding the subjects and made sure to not end the session until all the my questions were answered. I highly recommend online tutoring with Christine if you're looking to be successful on the SAT & ACT. I even scored a perfect score on my ACT too!

My daughter and her friend have met with John 3 times so far for SAT prep. They have been very happy with each session. The first session was diagnostic and the subsequent sessions have been spent discussing problems and techniques. John is very easy to work with. They do not feel bad when they make mistakes or do not understand a concept. We plan to do a total of 10 sessions before taking the SAT.

Grace Wang is my Mandarin tutor, and I have been taking private lessons with her for many years, first for SAT II Chinese prep and then for advance reading, writing, and conversation. Grace has always been very fun and approachable, and we have a great time conversing and reading about a wide range of topics such as Chinese history, idioms, and daily life. Her own understanding of Mandarin is very strong, and she takes the time to explain the nuances of the language. She also utilizes many different resources: online learning tools, textbooks, novels, etc. Most importantly, Grace is very patient, knowledgable, and flexible. I can suggest any kind of material to review for our classes, and she will always have insightful things to add. I always look forward to my Mandarin lessons with her!

Met with John once or twice a week over the course of several months during my GMAT preparation. I started out with a 13th percentile quantitative score. After working with him I was able score in the 73rd percentile on my first official GMAT, exceeded my initial goal by scoring ABOVE a 700. I had no formal quantitative training or experience prior to studying; the last math class I took was as a sophomore in high school (a decade ago). Each time I met with John, he was able to go beyond simply correcting my mistakes. He clearly explained the overarching reasoning, strategy and logic behind a certain problem. This is something the video explanations in GMAT curriculum do not do as thoroughly as John. If you're looking for someone to discuss GMAT concepts with in a clear and intelligent way, I highly recommend him. I also studied using curriculum like Target Test Prep, but John helped me tremendously by working through the problems I struggled with step by step and identifying any weak spots in my quant skills. He understands the GMAT and is able to identify the kinds of questions that likely would or would not appear on the exam. Finally, John served as a strong source of moral support throughout a challenging three months of study atop a full time job. When I wanted to try a new curriculum or ask him about tricky questions via email, he would always offer thoughtful feedback in response. His responses were especially helpful when I scored low on practice exams; John's feedback always helped me put things in perspective and helped me get back up and try again. He was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and make time when needed, often on short notice. In short, I couldn't have done it without him!

Dave Foster primarily tutored my home schooled daughter extensively in pre-calculus, but also provided some SAT prep. Essentially, he was her math teacher for a year. Although my daughter is a good student, she previously did not like math at all and she had some trouble grasping higher level concepts, such as logarithms. By the end of their time together, Kate not only had a firm understanding of the material, but she also developed a liking for a previously detested subject. Her SAT scores improved significantly, and when she took a higher level math course at our local college, Kate was at the top of her class. I firmly believe Dave's teaching gave her a firm foundation to succeed at this next level. Always cheerful, patient, encouraging, and willing to go the extra mile, Dave has a heart for his students and a gift for teaching. We will definitely call on Dave again, if the need arises.

Monica helped my 11th-grade son prep for his statistics final after falling behind a bit on the coursework. She helped him catch up in a 2-hour session and he got an A! We are continuing to use Monica to prep for the SAT. My son likes her very much and I am impressed by her professionalism and warm personality. We are glad we found her!

All of their staff is very responsive and amazing. I scheduled my sessions right away with great tutors who graduated from top universities. Also, it was so helpful to download their SAT UP app. After trying dozens of SAT prep apps, this one is my favorite so far. If you want to get higher points, this package is awesome and affordable for the value you get.

Anish is hands down the best tutor in this area! I needed someone to tutor me for the GRE and he was exceptional. His teaching style and experience is exactly what you need to score high on the exam. Additionally, he offered to edit my personal statements for graduate schools. His feedback was amazing and he responds in a timely manner. Due to his help, I was able to write the perfect statement and score in the 90th percentile. I am going to attend my dream graduate program in the fall and I have a lot to thank him for. I am forever grateful for this tutor and his dedication to help people!

Bryce is a wizard when it comes to test prep. I hired him to help me improve my LSAT score and I was shocked at how quickly I was able to progress under his guidance. I’ve always been that guy who thinks “I’ve never been good at standardized tests, no matter what kind of help I get”. Working with Bryce turned that notion upside down. He showed me that the LSAT isn’t a labyrinth of mystery, but rather a puzzle that can be unlocked with the right tools. He was entirely right. Bryce utilizes a very easy-to-understand approach, breaking down each section and each question type into something concrete and understandable. His methods not only work when applied to the test, but he strives to make sure you understand them. Since the LSAT has patterns and attempts to use the same methods to trick you, many of my conversations with Bryce involved making sense of a certain style of question, understanding it commonsensically, and then realizing that it wasn’t all that difficult to arrive at the right answer once you removed the haziness of a foggy LSAT brain. We often used golf and other sports analogies to help make sense of the arguments. I found those analogies to be incredibly helpful because they put the LSAT into terms that I was already comfortable with. After working with Bryce, I improved my LSAT score by 8 points in a few months. But, besides a better LSAT score, I am really indebted to Bryce for helping me to think more clearly. Ultimately, Bryce’s method leads you to becoming supremely inconvincible, so that your brain will immediately spot flaws in arguments you see on TV, from your friends or family, or wherever else you find them. Now, I am naturally spotting holes in arguments and I am a much more inquisitive reader. These skills are phenomenal for the LSAT but will serve anyone well in law school too. I would highly recommend Bryce as an LSAT tutor!

Kaitlin has been my writing/English tutor for several years. With her help, she taught me to organize and simplify my writing. It is her advice that allowed me to score perfectly on the ACT English and Reading sections; in total, I scored a 33 out of 36! In my experience, I have had no other tutor that is as dedicated and committed to helping me succeed. She put my time before her own to help proofread and edit my essays, work on test prep, and improve on English language arts in general. Very hardworking and compassionate!

My stepdaughter has been working with Sylvia for a few months now and we can really see a difference in her math and English (reading, writing, spelling, etc). My stepdaughter actually looks forward to her time with Sylvia, which is so important to us. Sylvia is very patient, personable and knowledgeable. My stepdaughter got very excited yesterday, after she found out that Sylvia is also fluent in Spanish because she would like to start working on that as well. I feel that we really lucked out with finding Sylvia. Soon, my other stepdaughter will be working with Sylvia to prep her for the SSAT!

Brian is a fantastic tutor! I really can't say enough good things about him. He is always well-prepared, thoughtful, and he really knows his stuff. He helped my daughter on the SAT so much. He really transformed the way she thought about and approached the test. He is an all around excellent tutor. He was never stumped by questions my daughter had. What impressed me the most about Brian is how knowledgeable he was on even the smallest grammar detail. I would highly recommend Brian to anyone looking to improve their SAT or ACT scores!

How do I prepare for the GMAT?

If you’re thinking of enrolling in graduate school to earn your MBA, it’s time to start thinking about preparing for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). Working with a GMAT tutor is for many people a wise investment to help you strengthen the academic areas you may be weak in and improving your overall test score. A GMAT prep tutor should teach you not only the kind of information you need to know for the test, but the best test-taking strategies. The GMAT tests you on four categories: quantitative, verbal, integrated reasoning, and an analytical writing assessment. Cramming is probably not going to give you good results for this standardized test; give yourself between two and six months to prepare, focusing on your most challenging areas first. Successful GMAT prep means planning ahead and studying thoroughly. Those students who reported studying under 75 hours were more likely to score 400 or lower on the test, while students who studied 121 hours or more were more likely to score 700 or higher on the test. Hiring a GMAT prep tutor can range in price from under $50 to over $200 per hour.

How long does it take to prepare for the GMAT?

Pros recommend planning to spend two to six months for GMAT prep. The test itself is only 3.5 hours long, but your score will have a major effect on what schools grant you admission. If you’d like to be considered for one of the top-tier schools, it’s recommended to score at least a 700. Your goals for your MBA can help drive your GMAT prep. GMAT tutors will guide your study plan and help analyze your strengths and weaknesses. GMAT tutors also offer professional guidance and insights on strategic GMAT test-taking. Avail yourself of free GMAT prep software that provides sample test questions for you to practice. The creators of the GMAT recommend creating a structured study plan detailing when you will study each day and what topics you will study during each session. Take into account what style of learning works best for you (solo study, one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, study groups, prep courses) and proceed accordingly. The test is made up of these four categories, each with an allotted time:

      • Analytical writing assessment: 1 topic, 30 minutes.
      • Integrated reasoning: 12 questions, 30 minutes.
      • Quantitative: 37 questions, 75 minutes.
      • Verbal: 41 questions: 75 minutes.
