About
My name is James Terry. I specialize in teaching Self Defense, Martial Arts, optimizing body composition & health by teaching proper nutrition, cardiovascular, flexibility, strength & self defense routines. I've been training clients in all walks of life with a wide variety of fitness goals for 12 years. Since 2006 I've been a pro MMA fighter. During that time I've been training with top notch fighters, as well as developing & teaching self defense curriculum. I run group and individual classes in Muay Thai, Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Crossfit. I am the Manager and a full time instructor at Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Pleasanton as well as a contracted combatives instructor for our US military personnel. I have a lot to share with the community and I always look forward to meeting and training with enthusiastic and disciplined people!

Training with James has been awesome! James demonstrates great knowledge in kickboxing and fitness. I highly recommend him if you want to become a better martial artist.

If you are reading the reviews, it should be clear that James is a great trainer. I have taken private lessons all across the country and must say that James is excellent at teaching technique and giving realistic and understandable feedback. 5 stars!

James "Intensity" Terry is an outstanding personal trainer, team leader, motivator and educator. James trained me using weights, proper CrossFit exercises, martial arts (under the leadership of my husband, and his Coach, CUNG LE), and his own brand of Intensity training! During my difficult pregnancy James inspired me to do whatever I could and had me back to sumo squats by my second trimester. James leads while jumping in and doing the exercises with you allowing you to go beyond what you have ever done before. Training is about pushing yourself but limiting exposure to injury. James Terry is one of my favorite trainers of all time. My husband, Cung Le, only allowed James to hold mitts for me, when he wasn't able to. That in itself speaks volumes!
