Hired Tom for my TI job in Carlsbad. He was straight forward with the whole process and finished on time and under budget, two things that were very important for me. Had a great crew of sub contractors as well. Thanks Tom.Jul 9, 2015
I contacted Thomas in July requesting a quote to fix my porch PRIOR TO my HOA coming over and painting my house. Since he couldn't be over until a week later, I ended up getting another quote and thought this person would do the job, but the guy flaked, so I re-contacted Thomas recently, and for 3 days he's been giving me the runaround. I simply asked him if/when he could come over for the estimate? and he wouldn't answer me, instead he kept asking me questions.. one of those was if the fixing needed to be done BEFORE the painting (I had already told him that it did, of course). If he could message me back and forth he could have looked at his calendar and told me when he could be over. IF he was not interested, just say so, and don't drag it on and on, wasting my time.Sep 28, 2018VerifiedWe're Innovative Custom Cabinets ... and MORE!'s reply
Denise - Thanks for your review! Bringing this into perspective, concerning the biggest issue as I perceive it, WRT to wasting time. I did contact you immediately when you had placed the request for quotes back in July. We scheduled an appointment and, before we got together that next week, you had hired a contractor that Saturday. I thanked you for your response and that was that. We then received a note from you this week that the job was back alive, but was yet a long ways off. Indeed, I did ask you several questions, including when you thought the work might actually start. There was some confusion as to whether you wanted the repairs done before or after the HOA painted. The end of the story is that we received a reply to our last contact after 8pm and respoonded at 2pm the day following. The end of that correspondence trail included you informing us that you thought we were not a good fit. We responded in agreement and that was that. Runaround is not at all the situation. Spending time corresponding is far preferable to meeting you at your home for an hour or so only to find out that the actual work could be who knows when. You marked us as *HIRED*, which we were not. The one star rating as well as the complaint are taken quite seriously by 18 year old company, hence this reply. We wish you the best in finding a contractor that fits so that you get the best service possible. We are truly sorry if our communication was not to your standards and will endeavor to improve for the next clients that request our services. Sincerely, Thomas Cook Owner

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We're not the "cheap" guy! Value is the key. "Its's not what you pay. It's what you GET for what you pay!" -Tom Cook
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We meet! I like to see your place, listen to your desires, offer suggestions and come up with a plan. We don't do the "one call close" thing that many of our contemporaries have gone to. I don't believe a home improvement business should be a sales driven organization. SERVICE through a personal professional relationship is the only way to go.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Constantly keeping abreast of the latest trends, products and methods is almost a full time job in itself.
