- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our Process begins with Discovery asking you questions to learn more about your design goals and needs. We suggest an initial phone conversation to gain insight into your project and to learn more about you. We will also meet with you in person to assess your project and implement a game plan. We typically then move into Space Planning and Design, developing with you the initial concepts and inspiration that will define your project. Together we explore creative concepts that will be further refined leading to our final specifications and to your new home or commercial space. As we progress in the Design Development we finalize the space plan and leave the conceptual behind and get down to specifics. It is here we make your final selections, refine the specifications and final budget for your project, piece by piece, leading to a comprehensive package of options that are within your budget and timeline. Our services also may include Purchasing, Project Management and Turn Key Installation if you desire. Our goal is always to empower you to make the best decisions possible keeping in mind your goals, budget and timeline.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With many years experience in high end new construction and design, Melinda leads her team from ideation to completion drawing from her long standing relationships with architects, builders, artists and vendors. Her designs incorporate unique pieces, including custom furniture created by both herself and long time artisan associates. Her client list includes a prominent Silicon Valley clientele with completed projects throughout the country.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
An interior designer does more than pick colors. If you are building a new home we provide preliminary design studies that optimize every aspect of your project,from framing considerations to the finishing touches. An Interior Designer working with your Architect and Builder assures you of a cohesive buildable design and carefully thought out specifications. This in turn assures you of optimizing your schedule and your budget. Rigorous planning is the single most important tool you can possess in a building project.
