beginning music lessons
I always wanted to take singing lessons but never had the opportunity and courage. Mindy made everything easy. She is patient, competent and always greeting you with a smile. That's why I decided to take piano lessons as well ;)
Andi is a really awesome guitar instructor. I started guitar lessons with him with absolutely no experience playing an instrument or knowing how to read sheet music. But because he is really patient, knowledgeable, and at ease with teaching, I have been able to pick up how to play the guitar and reading the tab handouts he gives me after each lesson. He goes at the students pace and is willing to change his lessons to teach what new songs I want to learn. After each lesson I am always inspired and reminded why I wanted to take up guitar lessons in the first place. Andi was the very first instructor I met and Im glad I did. I could not recommend him highly enough as an instructor.
Stella has been a wonderful teacher! I've never taken any sort of music lessons and was worried about starting lessons as an adult. I came across Stella after looking through many websites and am glad I did. Stella is extremely patient and encouraging throughout the sessions. I can't tell you how many times I mess up in an hour and she always tends to find something good to say about what I've done. I really enjoy taking lessons with her and would recommend her to anyone needing a supportive and knowledgeable teacher.
Kelly is an enthusiastic teacher! He is willing to spend over time with my kids and makes them engaged. My kids always look forward for his lessons. He also provides my little four year old daughter and myself free lessons! We like him a lot and highly recommend him!
My family has started lessons with Juan Carlos, and we're happy we found him. He's a patient teacher who structures lessons based on each student's progression and skill set. He also teaches the "right" way, i.e. fundamentals, thereby setting up students for success. It also helps that he's a nice guy and is extremely responsive with scheduling etc.
Over the years I have received instruction from Donna through piano lessons and participation in various choirs she has conducted. I am impressed with her knowledge, expertise, kindness, and patience. I am especially thankful for the way I have been instructed to sing so that I do not harm my voice....and in the piano instruction that includes education in the instrument - its history and how it works - and arm and hand technique when playing.
I needed some help with a song for an upcoming audition, and was blessed to randomly meet Sammy at a local music store. What was meant to be one lesson turned into months of working together. I have trained under many vocal coaches in the bay, but Sammy is by far the best, and was surprised by how patient, talented, and hard working he is. You can tell that he really thinks about his students between lessons, and what songs, exercises, and auditions would fit our voices. I made leaps and bounds with Sammy in a very short amount of time. Five star all the way!
I can't say enough about my experience with Ken. He is very intuitive. His lessons are balence between exercises and therory. I have alway found myself mentally stimulated, with plenty of work for my fingers. He is very energetic and reaches out between lessons to give you more music to play with. His warm and friendly personality make the lessons fly by. He also willing to work through tought topics without cutting the lesson short (schedule permitting ). I really appreciate his effort into his students. He has also been pretty flexible with my shedule. As an adult these are not the piano lessons I hated as a child. Lol
I have been taking voice lessons with Marla Volovna for 7 months now. In this short time I have progressed faster than I ever had before, in vocal technique as well as in interpretation and musicianship. Marla is very demanding, very honest and very encouraging a killer combo for success. And Marlas commitment to her students progress really extends beyond the weekly lesson, with regular communication of tips to improve technique, interpretation, links to performances, documentaries, archives, etc I highly recommend Volovna Vocal Studio.
I would recommend Dylan to anyone looking for guitar lessons for themselves and their children! He is wonderfully patient and very knowledgeable. He will work with you on any song you like and use it to teach technique and theory, thus making it a lot more interesting. We moved about 1.5 hours away and still prefer making the trek for lessons over finding someone local to us!
I'm having a lot of fun! The hour just slips by and my monologue improves tremendously from the start of the lesson. It's also one-on-one so I get all the attention I need.
I have known Lynn for 35 years and you cannot ask for a better piano teacher. Lynn started teaching me piano 35 years ago, and now she is teaching my daughter. Lynn is extremely caring, knowledgeable and passionate. Our daughter has flourished since beginning piano lessons with Lynn 2 years ago; she is playing advanced songs that most students her age wouldn't be able to play. Lynn makes learning piano fun, and our daughter enjoys practicing daily without us having to remind her. We are very happy to have Lynn as our teacher, and would encourage anyone interested in piano to call her first.
The only two hiring have been great, the current one is awesome, Marie seems very cooperative and genuine. My daughter love's her. And now from wanting first, singing lessons, also wants to learn the piano as well
Wow, Ann has been great! I've never taken any voice lessons before, and in fact, I'm a terrible singer! The reason why I wanted to take lessons was because I've always wanted to be able to sing at least one song decently. So, I was nervous going to my first lesson with a professional voice coach. She was very friendly, and put me at ease immediately. She casually taught me about the basics, and asked me a lot of questions to get to know me. Once she realized I had no prior experience, she got right to work! She made the lessons fun, but also full of new things to learn. I've only had a couple of lessons so far, but I'm already noticing a big difference!!! And I'm an absolute beginner! Sometimes she sings for me to show me techniques, and she blows me away with her singing! I can imagine that even professional singers would get a lot out of taking lessons from her! She notices even the tiniest of details about your voice and makes note and suggests ways to improve! I definitely recommend!
Deborah is a truly special instructor. I came open to learn voice and piano, and I'm getting both and more. She really honed in on the work that I need: that in my head and heart. Through music, I'm learning how to dismantle the pride and fear that clouds (or prevents) my music-making. I feel so much more it touch with my inner musician, and free to let her fly. Deborah is easygoing and thoughtful, practical and resourceful. I highly recommend her.
Liz is an amazing music teacher and person. I started taking lessons with her when I started flute in the 5th grade and kept taking lessons wih her through the end of high school. The only reason I stopped was because I moved away to college. Liz is a true musician. She knows music and she knows how to teach. I was always impressed wih Liz's ability to make very complex music reachable. What I love so much about Liz is that she makes music personal. She asked what I was interested in and made sure that I got to learn the type of flute because that is what I was interested in. This is in contrast to some other music teachers I had when I played other instruments earlier in my life. I remember sometimes I would be tired from school or sports practice earlier, or maybe I had had a rough day, and would not want to go to my lesson. Of course I would go and not once did I regret it. I ALWAYS left lessons happy. Liz made music and lessons fun. She is truly invested in her students. She builds relationships with them. I graduated from college and a teacher myself now and I still talk to Liz to catch up because we are more than just student-teacher we are friends. I still think of Liz when I hear Christmas music or Flight of the Bumblebee.
I can't say enough good things about working with Patricia. She is always on time, always professional, incredibly knowledegeable, and always ready for our lessons. I have grown tremendously since I started working with her! I've actually started taking both voice and piano lessons from her because she is that good. She is classically trained and knows her stuff so well and can explain it so well that even a 5 year old could understand it.
Chris is a really good musician and teacher. Some musicians are so good they forget what it's like to 'not know'. Chris can be with you, where you're at even though he is a highly skilled player. His patience is very encouraging. It's inspiring to take lessons with him and to remember we all NEED music!
Jackson is a great teacher. He is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, and also manages to keep things fun and interesting. I look forward to my lessons each week. Highly recommend him!
Amy is a terrific teacher. An outstanding, Curtis-trained musician herself, Amy brings the exacting precision of high level artistry to her pedagogy, but at the same time makes it fun. She is a perfectionist with regard to technique and focuses in with laser precision on flaws in bowing, finger position, wrist flexibility, posture and, of course, the myriad elements of musical interpretation. You really feel like you've gotten a thorough work out by the time it's over, yet she's always cherubic! She also makes it seem like a mutual, adventurous discovery, even though it's all got to be cello 101 for her--which I appreciate since I'm an older student. She happily shares her vast knowledge, spanning all periods of music from the medieval to the post-modern, and has thoughtful insights on musicology, currents in musical development, even theories of tuning. A talented pianist, Amy can accompany on the piano as well, which is a bonus. But when she accompanies you on the cello, she makes even a beginner sound like a pro. She also speaks excellent Italian! Perhaps the greatest compliment I can add after all this is that I bring my daughter for cello lessons with Amy as well. I recommend her to cellists at any level from beginner to pros just needing an intelligent set of ears.
