Introduction: With nearly a decade of teaching experience, I am passionate about music and instilling a love of music in all my students. I have a Master's degree in Collaborative Piano Performance from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from New York University. Sam has been absolutely phenomenal in helping me understand music theory and improving my performance at the piano. For context, I had no musical background and was self-taught for about 5 months before I decided to commit to getting help. I am glad I did. Sam has made me more comfortable with playing around the keyboard and guiding my learning with resources and his experience. He can simplify concepts, give practical feedback, and communicate with a complete beginner. He is patient during sessions and responds to questions via email outside of lessons. From my experience, if you are a beginner seeking online piano lessons, Sam will help you where you are at.

Sam is a wonderful piano teacher. I started remote lessons as almost a complete beginner and he has really helped me to progress rapidly in my piano playing. Sam is very knowledgeable and explains everything very clearly. His lessons include great practical tips and advice on improving difficult passages. I always look forward to our lessons and feel excited to make steady progress on more advanced pieces. I particularly appreciated that Sam took time before our lessons started to understand what kind of music I was most interested in learning and then suggested really good introductory level music books with pieces that are interesting and beautiful even for adult learners.

Sam is a great musician and teacher. He took his time to listen and understand the kind of music I love and my goal of learning and provided personalized lesson plan. Sam is an excellent piano teacher. We have had the experience of music teachers before with my older kids and can I tell you that our experience with Sam for our youngest supersedes all the experiences. First and foremost, your child will be valued and Sam will create a connection that will engage and challenge your child. Sam is such an incredible teacher. He’s patient and knowledgeable. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to quickly get a sense of each individual goals and keep my teaching oriented around those — in other words, never losing sight of what initially inspired you to learn piano in the first place.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two degrees in music — both a Bachelor’s and Master’s.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve been teaching piano lessons since I was in college, back in 2010. For me, teaching has always been one of the most satisfying aspects of being a musician. I also feel that passing musical knowledge onto the next generation is an important responsibility — the gratitude I have for the teachers in my life inspires me to do the same!
