Kathleen is a really dedicated and skilled personal trainer. She has so much experience and knowledge that goes beyond work out planning. She is super careful to make sure I get a great work out but also remain injury free, which a lot of trainers out there, seem to be lacking. She makes you feel at ease right away. I am honored to write a recommendation for Kathleen Lavin. I recently moved back to San Clemente from the Bay Area. I had a 5 month old baby and my mom struggled with dementia. Kathleen was able to put together a workout program that met both of our needs. Kathleen was very flexible with us as far as a workout schedule. She was always on time or early to set up equipment she planned on using for our specific workout plan. I was most impressed with her ability to change exercises on a dime if needed. As we worked out she shared many exercise tidbits with us that we could do in the days we were not with her. She always made sure we had correct posture and position to prevent any injuries. Within a few weeks we noticed major changes. She made each work out fun. I never felt like I was doing the same thing twice so, I never got bored. She is also a wealth of knowledge in nutrition as well. Kathleen is a genuinely caring person who loves what she does and it shows! - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I listen to your goals, heath and injury issues, schedule, and any other concerns. I asses your strengths, weaknesses, areas of tightness, muscle imbalances, gait, postural imbalances, strength, agility, and function. I then customize a program specifically designed to meet your individual needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have had my own personal training business for 26 years, which began with 4 years of managing a back and neck rehabilitation center for an orthopedist. I graduated from the University of San Diego, and also completed a spinal rehabilitation program at the University of Florida. I am certified as a personal trainer through the American Council of Exercise (ACE), TRX, and Johnny G.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?My interest in personal training began with 4 years of managing a back and neck rehabilitation center for an orthopedist, after which I solely focuses on personal training.
