FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once you contact us, one of us will call to discuss your grooming needs and set an appointment. We'll answer your questions and give you an estimate. We knock ourselves out to be on time. A 60-minute window around our scheduled arrival time is given, and you can count on us arriving as close to your scheduled time as possible. We will keep you updated if there is any delay. Once your groomer arrives for that all-important first appointment, she'll meet with you and your four-legged friend. Pups like a meet-and-greet, but most cats are not usually interested in introductory small talk, so we might go straight to the salon with them. We'll confirm your services, and give your pet a once-over to make sure that the price we quoted over the phone is accurate. Now is the time to remind the groomer about any special needs, unusual behavior to expect or past issues. Once Fluffy's grooming is done, we'll report on how the session went, and provide recommendations for future care. You'll be asked to spend a few moments looking over your pet carefully with us. We want to be sure you are totally happy with every detail of their grooming. We ask that you stay at home during the first appointment, usually 60 to 90 minutes for most breeds. Future grooming appointments will take less of your time, now that we know how your pet will behave and the look you like. Many of our clients even book grooming sessions to occur while they are away from the house. Our mobile grooming salon requires two parking spots - one behind the other - for our pickup truck and the salon trailer. Parking needs to be within 100 - 150 feet of water and electrical connections. We bring own hoses and extension cords. We'll need to hook up the water hose where you connect your garden hose, and a nearby electrical outlet. We only use clean, fresh water, which we warm up in advance. Water usage is minimal - typically less that 10 gallons. Please pay your groomer when her work is finished. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards. Groomers welcome tips, although it's not required.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
We groom pets... all day, every day. Awesome Doggies does it all. We're a full service mobile pet groomer. There's no breed that intimidates us. If you go for short fluffy types like the Bichon that has eyes for nobody but you, you've come to the right place. We also can take care of your rugged 120 lb German Shepherd who loves to dig, chew and shed like mad. We have no limits on size, breeds, or age: young or old, big or small, we love 'em all! Whether your Poodle needs a pompadour, or your Pekinese wants a puppy cut, we've gotcha covered. We do all kinds of pet haircuts, from breed clips to puppy clips, kennel clips, chenille clips, and shavedowns. If shedding is driving you crazy, or your pet seems too hot, ask us about stylish alternatives to shaving. We do much more than just basic grooming. Ask us about puppy's first groom, grooming for cats, special needs pets, our moisturizing wrap for dry or itchy skin, tooth brushing & oral hygiene treatments, de-shedding, a mineral mud bath, de-skunking, flea cleanup & consultations, doggie pedicures, anal gland expression, behavior issues, or dry/cracked paw pads.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Top traits for a mobile groomer are being gentle with the pets, being reliable, and having good communication skills. Ask what’s included with every groom, so you know exactly what you’re getting & what - if anything - will cost extra... what kind of products they use, so you know they’re using quality products designed specifically for pets & preferably all natural... and if they’re experienced with handling anything specific to your pet’s needs (an older pet, a rescue, anxiety, a new puppy, etc) – they should be familiar with special circumstances and how to accommodate them.
