I am an innovative and a flexible thinker. I took one little class on dog behavior and before I knew it I was devouring every book on the topic and received my certification as a professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA). Since then I have gone on to achieve additional certifications, and am passionate about continuing education. I continue to expand my knowledge of science‐based, positive training methods by attending seminars, workshops, conferences and reading and researching whenever possible. With years of experience and 100’s of puppies trained, let me guide you through molding your puppy into a well-mannered member of the family. At Dogpanion we are a force free training company. I do not promote, condone, or permit the use of correction-based training tools for the dogs enrolled in training.

Look no further for a dog trainer, Mel is the best. She is passionate, patient, and excellent with animals. In the short time that we have used her we have seen results and a more disciplined dog. She cares so much about your animal that she is always available for consultation over the phone. She has boarded and trained our dog when my family went on vacation and sent follow up videos and photos of our puppy on our vacation. We look forward to a long term relationship with Mel and our adorable and well trained puppy.

I would honestly give many more stars if possible! Mel is that very rare combination of knowledge, excellence (she is highly educated on everything canine), skill and compassionate attitude. She has a true understanding of the world of canine and will meet you where you are at! Believe me, after many so called "experts" coming over and "helping" me with my dogs the wrong way, Mel is a breath of fresh air! I now have complete confidence that my 3 rescued pooches can become more confident, able and better canine citizens! It is such a relief to know we are in the hands of an expert! Do yourself a favor and save yourself time and money when looking for an OUTSTANDING trainer. Just called Mel!

Mel has given us an enormous amount of confidence in our daily training. Our dog is from a shelter, and he came with leash reactivity. He quickly feels overwhelmed and anxious on a leash, and his deep bark and 40 pounds have caused a lot of people to either get upset with us for having him or offer tons of advice about "prong collars" and "teaching him who's dominant". We were starting to feel like we were terrible parents! Mel reassured us that our dog is well-adjusted and capable of conquering his fears. We've been using the positive reinforcement training these past 3 weeks and are happy to say that we have seen a positive change! We are better able to recognize his needs and respond appropriately thanks to the patient training by Mel. We will have work to do for a few more months yet, but we feel much more confident about taking it on!

She was great!! Very reasonably priced and my dog loved her. We hired her for one session to help with potty training my Rottweiler and my dog was fully trained with almost no issues within two days of her training session!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private lessons can be purchased individually or as a three or six-lesson package. If you have a puppy under 4.5 months, you can purchase a curriculum based package that has a huge discount! Single 90- minute lesson: $150 3 Lesson Package: $420 6 Lesson Package: $731 (save 13%) Puppy Start Right Package: $500
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free phone consultation to better discuss your needs. In between lessons offer phone and email support during business hours.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue to expand my knowledge of science‐based, positive training methods by attending seminars, remote schooling, conferences, and reading and researching whenever possible. My program for fixing Separation Anxiety is based off Julie Naismith, Subthreshold Training methods.
