Justin is everything you could ask for in a piano instructor! A few lessons in and I already feel like I’ve learned more than I have with other teachers in the past 4 years! The lessons are fun, informative, and packed with value. I genuinely look forward to every lesson and leave every lesson excited to practice my pieces and exercises for the week! Best teacher out there:)

Justin has been such a great teacher to work with. He knows a solution for every problem I have in my playing and composing. Not only does he give me a solution, he gives me other options/alternatives about how I could solve my problems. He also comes up with good practice methods for my piano lessons, and I have been able to learn pieces very quickly. He is very good at coming up with small and big projects for my composition side, and is very detailed in the assignments he gives me. Lastly, he is just a very kind, humorous person to be around. Although I can only see him online for lessons now, it always makes my day better seeing his smile :)

Justin has been teaching my son piano for over 3 years now and I am so impressed with Justin's skills as a teacher as well as how he has been instrumental in improving my son's life. My son is 18 and took up piano when he was 15 after trying several other activities and instruments. Music has changed his life and Justin played, and continues to play, a vital part in helping my son find himself as a musician and as a young adult. Before we chose Justin as an instructor, my son took lessons from a handful of other local teachers - but something about Justin's teaching style and personality just clicked. We have been thankful for Justin ever since. Justin's wide range of skills and repertoire of musical styles has kept my son engaged and challenged for the past years. As my son's interests have shifted, so have Justin's lessons. Classical music was what drew my son to piano (over general rock keyboards where he started), and Justin has been able to feed that interest while also expanding my son's exposure to playing different styles from classical to jazz to rock to video game scores. From the beginning, music theory was an aspect of lessons. Something about the way Justin introduced and explored this part of musical training sparked an interest in my son, who usually shys away from 'book learning' in favor of more hands on studies. They have progressed steadily through music theory from the basics all musicians need (what is a staff, what kinds of notes are these, what are time signatures, etc) to ever increasingly complex musical theory that I struggle to comprehend. As my son's musical theory skills increased, so did his math skills - music lessons have had an impact upon my son's education far beyond the keyboard. If you've read this far, thank you. If you skipped to the end, (TL:DR) just know that I highly recommend Justin Hansen as a piano teacher and music theory/composition instructor.

You continue to be a blessing to me--I'm honored to feel apart of your family and cherish the time I have with Nicholas each week. So great to hear how his lessons have impacted other areas of study and everyday life. Thank you, Vanessa!!!

Justin is an excellent music teacher. I am a middle aged adult learner and he has been my piano teacher for the past four years, and the experience has been lovely. He has also been teaching me music theory as well, and he really knows his stuff. He is so patient and easy to work with. He has also taught two of my children piano and ukulele, and he was excellent with them. I really appreciated that he would make sure to have material that was interesting for me and my kids, but we also worked on technique and classics.
