Philip Hatcher Music Teacher
Introduction: Hi Joe, my name is Phil. I'm a professional piano player who teaches fun lessons in piano, guitar, and music theory. My students range from 5 to 70 something. I teach classical, jazz, blues, gospel, rock, and popular tunes. Students learn to read music, jazz charts, and play by ear, focusing on what they enjoy the most.
I've been playing for gospel choirs for almost 30 years.
My students have gone on to be in bands, be songwriters, music majors, San Diego Music Award winners, and music teachers themselves. One of them has his own record label.
We have recitals once or twice a year to give you performance opportunities and so you can see what other students are working on.
Lessons can be once a week, or more often. I travel to you. Rates are $30/half hour, $40/45 minutes, or $50/hour. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Phil has been teaching me to play piano. He is a gifted piano player and an even better teacher. He has the patience of Job, which goes a long way with an older adult student like myself. If I'm not grasping a new technique or concept, he attacks it from another angle until we arrive at something that helps me to make sense of it.
I'm wowing family and friends with classical pieces that I never really believed me fingers were capable of playing. If you want to learn to play the piano, Phil Hatcher is a top notch instructor.
