Hi there! My name is Monica. I'm a 27-year-old piano teacher from San Diego who relocated to the San Fernando Valley to finish my bachelor's in piano performance at CSUN. I have been playing piano for 20 years and teaching for 7 years. I have several music performance and pedagogy scholarships from both CSUN as well as my junior college.
In San Diego, I have had a very active music studio since 2009. The way that I teach is such that I drive to students' houses and teach 1-hour lessons. In my teaching, I aim most towards helping students develop a love for music while simultaneously encouraging a well-rounded musical background.
I am a member of both the Music Teachers Association of California and the Music Teachers National Association and have the ability to enroll students in annual assessments, if desired. When my studio is strong enough, I would also like to offer performance opportunities for students in both biannual student recitals and community performances.
My teaching style involves music theory, technique, ear training, sight reading, music history, and building a repertoire that encompasses many different musical styles.
