Maria De La Paz is a vocal coach, producer, performer and songwriter in San Diego, specializing in pop, R&B, jazz, rock, Spanish, and musical theatre styles. This native of Argentina has been coaching people of all ages for over ten years and working hard to get the very best out of every student!
Maria's philosophy is that you do not need any special talent to make your voice strong, easy, street natural, stylish, and impressive. You need skillful, coordinated technique. As long as you can hold a tune (which 99% of humans can do), you can learn to sound impressively natural and keep your voice healthy, easy, flexible and strong for the rest your
life!
Every student leaves each lesson with a self-recorded CD of the song they are working on to reflect and practice throughout the week (and to show off to friends and family!).
You will learn how to use the vocal techniques used by great singers like Celine Dion, Stevie Wonder, Gavin DeGraw, American Idol winners Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia Burrino, Bono, Sting, Mary J Blige, Norah Jones, Ray Charles and others who give your voice power, personality, originality and expressiveness, and make them your own.
With all music students, Maria emphasizes both technique and inspiration. However, she will quickly get to the songs you want to sing, focusing on everything from posture to breathing to development of ear/body coordination, listening-focusing skills, stage presence, vocal range, register, resonance, diction, style, power, confidence, emotional
expression and voice-care.
