King W. says, "My contact was with Vitaliye (but I will refer to him as ‘V’ for brevity) and he showed up with a partner whose name I do not rermember {Sorry dude, but you were cool too). Pros: >Kept in contact well >Contacted me to ASK if he could come over early, and when I said yes he showed up even earlier than he thought he’d be. >They arrived cleaner and fresher smelling than I was. They were friendly in that professional way that service workers tend to adopt. >Construction of the 52” x 30” x 15” media cabinet took about an hour, original time estimate was 90-120 minutes. This is an excellent example of the aphorism “More hands make less work.” >V offered everything he should have; cleaning up the packing materials that they had very carefully set aside. >V also offered to move the unit elsewhere, and said he could move the shelves that were already there. They seemed confused that I wanted to just leave it in the middle of the living room, but I have a plan for it, so it’s parked there for now. I had a good experience with V and his partner, and they will definitely have bonus points bidding on later projects Cons: It will sound ridiculous, but I can find no actual fault with the service from signing up on Thumbtack to waving goodbye at the door. If I was absolutely forced to find fault with them, I guess its tied to something I neglected on the ‘Pro’ list: >They didnt bring their own soundtrack (pro) BUT they also didn’t talk much to each other. The lack of noise from the living room was a little weird. Then again, that could just be me. If this will always be the quality of servicepeople from Thumbntack, I’m definitely stuck :)"See more

Do you tip furniture assembly guys?

If you’re pleased with their customer service and professionalism, it’s a nice gesture to tip your furniture assembly guys. When furniture needs to be assembled and installed — particularly if you have them try the piece in various spots — that might be even more reason to leave a tip. Also consider factors like weather. If a crew is battling inclement weather or assembling a heavy piece of furniture on a scorching summer day, it’s kind to tip a little bit extra.
