Introduction: Available in San Francisco, I offer individual, personalized guitar lessons. I'm adept at several styles, and learners of all types of music can benefit from my experience. We can work on everything, from jazz, rock, blues, and funk to country/bluegrass and classical music. All ages are welcome—I have guitar students ranging from 7 to 70. I accept students of all skill levels, and beginners are strongly encouraged. If you are starting out, I will provide a solid foundation, and if you are already playing, I can assist you in moving to a higher musicianship level. The guitar lessons are enjoyable, informal, and designed to help you progress rapidly on the guitar. I take a practical approach that is designed to prepare you to play guitar with other musicians. I motivate all my students to look for enjoyable playing situations as soon as possible.

John, of guitarlessonssf is a really great teacher; he made me feel comfortable and that I could learn from him right from the first lesson. As the description says, his lessons are informal and fun. I was there for Guitar lessons, yet I never knew if the days lesson would be taught with a Bass, Guitar or Piano, or if it would stick to the book we were using or be something out of a conversation that ended up with me learning some basic theory. I really had a great time, learned a lot. I had to stop due to my crazy schedule, however I am planning to take more lessons with John in the future. Give it a shot and I think you too will dig it.

John is an amazing teacher. I took guitar lessons with him several years ago, and I still remember and appreciate the experience. I consider myself a somewhat difficult student when it comes to music, because I tend to be very hard on myself and can easily give up in frustration. John is patient, encouraging, fun and positive. Additionally, he is extremely knowledgeable. Highly Recommended!
