Introduction: One distinguishing feature about me is that I teach my clients self-help exercises if they're interested. This way, they can empower themselves and continue to enhance their own healing process in between treatments with me. This makes subsequent treatments work more effectively, too. If a client can no longer come for periodic treatments in my office, they can still take the tools they've learned from me and continue to use them, which is a wonderful gift. I experienced this myself when I first started receiving treatments myself over 10 years ago. Another thing that makes me unique as a Reiki practitioner is the fact that I have a science background and clinical experience in community health advising and medical research (clinical trials in oncology and internal medicine). The result is that I have a much greater understanding than most practitioners about the details of and theory behind Western medicine and how it is practiced today, especially when it comes to medications. An example of this is my work with people healing from and living with things like chronic pain and cancer. I enjoy helping people who are receiving medical treatments better understand what the treatments are, how they are thought to work, and how Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu can enhance their effectiveness and minimize their side effects. Facilitating communication between the medical clinician, the client/patient, and other integrative practitioners is part of what I can offer. When patients empower themselves with information, and are aware of their options, they are in a much better position to make choices that are best for them, and to effectively navigate the often complex and confusing medical treatment process and healthcare system. My own health issues led me to seek out alternative forms of treatment when I experienced the limitations of Western medicine and more conventional approaches, and continued to have severe back and spine pain despite trying many different types of medical treatments. Surgery, medications, physical therapy, exercise, massage, helped somewhat at different times, but I felt there must be something else that could help me. This search led me to Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu. I love the fact that my experiences, bad and good, can be used to inform and help others, and hopefully diminish and minimize their suffering. Being able to take what has helped me so much and share that with others is beyond satisfying.

Reiki San Francisco was able to fit me in at short notice and was also a lovely, helpful, down to earth person. She gave me several tips on how to help myself and even offered follow up information. I felt 100% better after my treatment and would recommend anyone go see her. Well worth the very reasonable fee. Grateful :)

Stephanie is an excellent teacher. She and I hit it off right away. There was no mistake that she ended up being my teacher for Reiki Master Level 3. There is no doubt that we will be friends for a long time. If I have any questions, I know she will be there for me when I start teaching Reiki. It was an honor to be her student.

I found Stephanie when I was visiting San Francisco, deep in an emergency level migraine. It helped quite a bit. She is a talented healer, also a very nice and cool person. I continued to see her regularly- I traveled from San Jose to SF on the weekends for sessions when I had the time. The reiki feels so good =)

Stephanie was very knowledgable about Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She has great energy and after one session I felt relaxed and more in-sync. It was so great I purchased a session package! Looking forward to working with Stephanie more.

Stephanie is a very kind, caring and talented practitioner and has my highest recommendation. She treated me before and after breast cancer surgery, and during post-operative treatment, using both Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu, which I know contributed greatly to my well being during the time of my treatment and my successful recovery.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

First of all, I treat myself every day with Reiki and Jin Shin Jyutsu. This is the best possible experiential education. Every year I take at least one Jin Shin Jyutsu special topic 2 or 3 day class, or a 5-day intensive class, and often take classes with and receive mentoring from my Reiki teachers. Every year for 5 years I took an additional Reiki Master Teacher class with my teacher. I also meet with other practitioners to study and exchange treatments, and . I take part in discussions among Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reiki practitioners on Linked In, Facebook, and Yahoo groups. I organize a San Francisco Jin Shin Jyutsu study/practice group, attend study groups when they are offered by other local certified Jin Shin Jyutsu teachers. In addition to this, I'm always learning more about science and spirituality, Western and Eastern medicine, and health and healing. I read medical journals online and earn continuing medical education credits.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if you are new to Reiki. Feel free to try out multiple different Reiki practitioners or teachers. Since Reiki is not regulated by any one governing body, each practitioner is likely to have been taught in a different way. If you were to compare several Reiki practitioner's treatments, they could feel anywhere from no difference/identical to radically different. Your response to a practitioner and their treatments (how you feel after a treatment) is your best guide, regardless of their credentials, lineage, years of experience, or how much they charge.
