About
Private Violin and Viola and Voice Lessons in the Sunset.
As a private teacher and faculty member music schools around the Bay Area, I am currently working with over 20 students ranging from ages 3.5 to adult students.
As a performer, I offer both solo strings and ensembles and vocal/piano services along with larger bands. I have over 15 years of experience with wedding and event performance and can offer a wide range of genres. I am a city hall approved vendor for one hour wedding packages.
I love helping students to find their own voice while focusing on technique, relaxation, effective practice techniques, and performance psychology.
I teach using Suzuki Violin and Viola Method in addition to advanced standard repertoire and supplemental etude and technical studies; audition prep and orchestral excerpts.
Experienced teacher and performer—MM in viola from New England Conservatory, Artist Certificate in Chamber Music from San Francisco Conservatory, BM Boston Conservatory.
My rates are in alignment with most teachers with my experience in this city. Accessibility is very important to me, so I am happy to offer sliding scale rates for students who are passionate and may struggle to pay that rate.

Carly has been Henry's violin teacher since he was just 3 years old and she is absolutely fantastic.
Carly has a rare ability to combine rigorous musical instruction with a warm, engaging style that resonates well with young children. From the beginning, she established a strong foundation in the fundamentals—proper hand position, posture, sight reading, and music theory. As Henry has grown as a musician, it has become increasingly clear that his technical skills and nuanced understanding of music are a direct result of Carly's careful attention to these foundational elements.
Carly's lessons feel collaborative and engaging rather than a lecture, which keeps children interested and motivated. She is very good at meeting students where they are while still maintaining high expectations.
Aside from her teaching, Carly is also an extraordinary musician. Her beautiful violin playing and singing demonstrate the level of artistry she brings to her work. She holds herself to an incredibly high standard and through her professionalism, she inspires her students to take pride in their own efforts and accomplishments. There is a high sense of expectation in her teaching but it is always delivered with kindness and patience.
After many years with Carly, Henry's musical growth has exceeded our expectations and we are deeply grateful for the role she has played in his development as a musician. We are so pleased with her teaching that our second child, now 4 years old, has started taking lessons with her as well! We love working with her and hope to continue our lessons for many more years to come.

My daughter has been taking lessons from Carly for 3 months now. Amelia has been playing two years, and the teacher moved, so we were sad. But I am really glad that we found Carly, who has been not only a good teacher for my daughter but also a warm and supportive presence. I highly recommend her!

As an adult student, I took lessons with Carly for awhile. After each lesson, I knew I was progressing and whatever obstacles I faced, she helped me overcome them with creative solutions I can apply with ease. Great motivator and a diligent teacher, Carly is to be recommended very highly.

Carly is the upmost professional. Her ability to teach, communicate and relate to my daughter Is truly a talent. She has a God given talent in her ability to perform. She has even more talent (if that is possible), in her ability to teach.
