John was a great coach and an overall great person. He didn't just treat this experience as a job but treated it as a person who would like to achieve a goal. I highly recommend John as a personal trainer!May 31, 2017Verified
I first started my fitness journey after learning my body fat percentage had hit a personal high of 27%. It was then I decided to make health a priority in my life and start taking exercise and nutrition seriously. I signed up for Thumbtack and put out a request for a trainer near my home. John was one of the first to respond. We spoke on the phone about my goals and then scheduled a free consultation where we practiced a few basic movements and took my measurements. After our consultation, I committed to 20 personal training sessions. In each session, John tailors exercises with my goals in mind, and pushes me beyond what I think I'm capable of. He is always mixing up exercises to keep things interesting and my body guessing. John has me training with everything from kettle bells and cables, to rowing machines and TRX. In addition to the challenging workouts, John is consistent and reliable. He sends calendar invites for our scheduled training sessions and lets me know in advance if he needs to reschedule. It's now been nearly 18 months since we first started training. I've lost inches of body fat and gained confidence and energy. I look forward to our training sessions and even have my boyfriend hooked on couple workouts with John. :) I cannot recommend him enough for those ready to commit to a healthy lifestyle.Jan 3, 2017Verified
I hired John for 4 months for online personal training. Honestly for that much money, I would recommend getting 1:1 in person training. One good thing is he was very responsive all throughout. If you have any questions he responds right away. Stating that, in the beginning John was very keen on checking up on the food logs and asking if the workouts were performed regularly. If there were any injuries he did try modifying the exercise. After 2 months his interest level started to taper off. The idea of having a personal trainer is keep you motivated and be consistent throughout the training period. The 4th month John barely kept in touch or never even looked at the food logs. Overall he is okay. My biggest concern with him is that I paid for 4 months upfront but forgot to copy the exercises at the end of it. He deleted me as a client from the exercise.com app that he uses to plan your workouts. I didnt realize that it would happen. Once I realized this I immediately asked him if he could just send me the exercise plan that he already drafted for me during the past 4 months since I paid for it. He was very hesitant to do that and I don't understand the resistance. He probably didn't want to take 10-15 min out of his busy day to send it out. I would have appreciated the whole experience more if he was considerate enough to send the plan, but John reacted to this as if I am asking him to provide free workout plans. I am only asking the plan that he already drafted during my online training with him. I would recommend to go for him if you don't care about a trainer going the extra mile for you. I would not hire him again.Oct 27, 2016Verified
I recently hired John to help me develop a better training routine and improve my overall strength. He started by scheduling a free consultation to assess my personal needs and then followed up with an hour evaluation of my current capabilities and deficiencies. On the day of my first training session, John had a 4-5 page document prepared that gave me a line item breakdown of my workouts for the next 12 weeks based on my goals. This comprehensive plan also included stretches that help to break up scar tissue that develops from sitting in a chair all day. He also offered to help me with my dieting habits, something that he was currently doing for a handful of other trainees he works with. If you are looking for a thorough approach to improving your overall health and strength, John is your man!Sep 14, 2014Verified
I have worked with John for almost a year now. Over the course of the year I’ve been more than pleased with the service, not only was the system very structured punctual and professional, but I’ve had more results than ever before. John/fast pace PT is the third personal training service I have used, after having two other personal trainers. Structured system compared to traditional personal training is much more effective and I have appreciated all of John’s, and his team is hard work . I look forward to more training and even more results to come. EliDec 12, 2017
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? We start everyone on 12 weeks of personal training.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We first have a short phone call to go over goals and logistics of training. We then book an hour in person assessment. This is also a strategy session where we put together the best possible outline for their success and give a couple different options in full package form.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BS degree from middle Tennessee state U. With an emphasis in exercise science. I currently hold 11 nationally credited certificates 2 of which are in nutrition, with the other in different areas of personal training.
