About
I love teaching and have a strong passion for helping others find their voice and create music. I have a Masters in Vocal Performance from San Jose State University and am certified in Somatic Voicework™ - The Lovetri Method. I have been teaching privately for over eight years. What I enjoy most about teaching voice is working with people one-on-one and watching them grow as a singer every week. I find it exciting and rewarding.

Margaret has a very charming studio, and is located right in San Francisco. I found that most voice teachers were inconveniently located for me, but Margaret's studio is only a bus ride away! I'm in my mid 20s and a complete beginner, so I scheduled an hour lesson with her to start. Margaret went through basic breathing, posture and sound principles. She did an exercise to determine my range, where I found out I could sing high notes pretty well if I sang properly. She even gave me a copy of some sheet music she had to start me off on a piece, which gave me something to work on between lessons. I felt like I got a lot out of my first lesson, and will continue weekly lessons to get to know Margaret more. So far I'm quite happy!
Singing Lessons

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    30 minute lessons = $40 45 minute lessons = $55 1 hour lessons = $70

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I perform regularly with various groups, events, and local opera and musical theater companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. I became certified in Somatic Voicework™- The Lovetri Method in 2014, and am a member of NATS. I use these resources to stay up to date on new research and developments about the singing voice.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I admire my students for their courage to take voice lessons. It can be scary to sing in front of someone else, especially a professional. What I wish they knew is how natural and fun singing can be, and that anyone can learn how to do it well.
