FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally I bid smaller jobs at fixed prices although time and materials style quotations sometimes are preferable. Time charged which includes having tools, transportation, insurance and clean up works out to $85/hour with the minimum job/trip charge being $170 Other charges could be: Disposal charges Materials and their procurement Hazard premiums if warranted Mileage if outside of service area The important thing is to be sure everyone had the same understanding of the structure of consideration for services provided.,
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Starting with a interview by phone or in person always helps . Understanding their goals and what elements are and are not important. It is important to find the point that balances the customers vision and costs so that the work performed provides value. Through some Q & A and creative contemplation, I make suggestions and develop a plan with cost estimates and options that shed light on the process as well as any potential pitfalls. Once we agree to a course of action, the work begins, and as it progresses, we check in and make sure what is being done is satisfactory. Upon job completion a walk thru checked against the punch list is performed, payment is made and a receipt is emailed.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I like to optimise processes and streamline tasks. working smarter and modifying existing conditions to meet challenges is very satisfying. So i would have to say that the evolution into this type of work began as a way to earn an income by helping others to solve problems or create what they envisioned while not having a job that is repetitive.
