I was SO lucky to find Jayne through thumbtack. She was a dream to work with. I needed a modest wedding dress. I wasn't coming across anything in the stores I liked or would work, so I decided I would have it custom made from scratch. I luckily was able to find Jayne, and she really made my dream a reality. I know nothing about sewing, fabrics, etc. She helped me pick the best fabrics, giving me different options in different price ranges. She also explained to me the different options I had in executing my vision. I loved that she would always give me options, as I can be pretty picky down to the detail when it comes to designing things. Not only is she super talented and did everything with perfection, she is just such a pleasure to talk to! She was always there to listen to my other wedding stresses and offer her advice in any way she could (especially when I was stressing over my DIY decorations). From the moment she took me on as a client, I did not have to stress one bit over the dress, which was a huge relief considering all the other things I had to stress over with planning a wedding. I HIGHLY recommend her for any custom designs or just alterations too!

Berna is a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend hiring her for sewing lessons! Upon meeting her, you will instantly recognize you have found an excellent teacher in the bay area. She has an extensive wealth of knowledge from decades of professional experience. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, Berna is patient and will provide you with valuable sewing tips and shortcuts which will save you time and money on your project. She has an excellent work space with a wide variety of sewing machines and tools to teach with. I recommend arriving prepared with an outline of what you want to learn and bring your own sewing machine so you can learn how to setup and use what you have.

Arisha's passion for sewing shows in her knowledge and instruction. She is patient when explaining sewing techniques and she addresses your sewing concerns. She has a solid understanding of creating garments that fit YOUR body, the way YOU want them to fit. Arisha makes herself available to answer questions even outside of your sewing lesson. Arisha is a keeper. If you want to learn how to sew or want to increase your sewing knowledge or perfect your techniques, she can help you.

Laura has done several sewing sessions for me. First I took my favorite old shirt to her and she made 4 shirts from it in different fabrics, so now I have 4 favorite new shirts. The best thing Laura ever made for me was a Game of Thrones type dress for a masquerade party. She took pains to make the details to my specification and make sure that it fit perfectly. Thanks Laura!

Lacie has given my adolescent son several sewing lessons over the past few years. Though he's awkward and has a difficult time articulating himself sometimes, Lacie is always patient and kind with him, she never gets frustrated. If he has an idea of what he'd like to do or learn, they do that, and if he doesn't, she comes up with a neat project so he always has something to show for it when he's done. I'm not sure there's any way for her to improve her sewing lessons, and I would highly recommend her as a sewing teacher for beginners of any age!

I started part 1 of a 2 part Knock Off Course. We are learning to make a pattern from an old garment. So far I’ve learned a lot about pattern making! I’m really happy I was able to replicate a dress I love! I now have a pattern. Next week we start sewing. The instructor is very knowledgeable; she engaged us into various learning moments from each students project. I look forward to additional classes.

Amazing results!!! My daughter drew the dress she wanted for her senior prom. Lisa brought the dress from the sketch book to life. My daughter was so excited!! This was not an easy job. Every detail was a challenge. Lisa is really a master at her craft. She went above and beyond to make this a most memorable experience. Thank you Lisa for being great at what you do. You were a pleasure to work with and we will definitely use your services again!

Vita has been teaching art to my daughter for a year. She has been a wonderful teacher and a wise and warm life-coach. With Vita's instruction and guidance, my daughter dramatically expanded her skills and gained a newfound self-confidence. It is thanks to Vita that my daughter was able to achieve her goal of admission to a competitive arts middle school. Vita is a gem!

Carmela gave my daughter a sewing lesson. She was patient and knowledgeable and made my kid feel at ease. (No fault of C's that my daughter wasn't that interested at this stage in her young life.) I've also been very satisfied with the quality and speed of the alterations she's done for me. I also had C re-upholster my couch. She did an amazing job, very quickly at a fraction of the costs I had been quoted by other upholsterers. She even came with me to the fabric store and helped me select the fabric. I am very pleased with the result-- it's a brand new couch!

Maria is a fantastic pattern maker and sewing teacher! She was able to make a pattern out of my existing garment without taking it apart and walked me through all the steps of re-creating the item. Not only is she very knowledgable, she is also a great teacher and was able to explain things to me so I could retain them and practice on my own. I was completely new to sewing and she patiently answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable with the different stitches. She also taught me how to setup and use my new sewing machine! Maria is a very down to earth and easy going person; it was really fun chatting during our lessons. I will definitely be back for more lessons!
