John was great to work with! I needed a lot of help with Statistics for a 6 week summer course. This course was very hard for me with the expedited pace and a weak math background, but John got me through the course and helped me pass with less stress than expected. He was available to meet with me at very short notice which I appreciated as my course pace was very quick. He was professional and easy going. I would recommend him to any student who needs a reliable, understanding and knowledgable statistics tutor! - LeahAug 15, 2017
John Bertinetti helped me study for the GMAT exam over the summer of 2017 with concentrated sessions to review GMAT Quant. John got me started on a study path by sharing info about the best study resources for my problem areas, and would meet with me once or twice a week to go over key Quant problems that I needed help solving. John is an ideal tutor for students who are good at keeping themselves on track without a structured curriculum. Great value, flexible scheduling, and clear explanations of problems are all huge wins with him. About halfway through the summer, I realized that I needed a structured class and more discipline to keep myself on schedule, so I supplemented my study sessions with John with an independent online class with a live teacher. Key lessons w/John: John is all about understanding the concepts behind a problem before sharing tricks; his method is great for learners like me who need to understand the math conceptually and don't want to just memorize formulas. We did a lot of work on combinatorics and probability, which were my challenge areas. He was a great and affordable supplemental resource for me beyond the class. Results: I went from a 580 on my Manhattan GMAT diagnostic to a 730 score on the actual GMAT after 3 months of light study followed by 2 months of intense study.Oct 22, 2017
John is an excellent tutor. He has worked with my scheduling (considering there is a 3 hour time difference) and can really explain concepts well. I am currently preparing for my actuary p1 exam which is heavily based on probability. He has shown me easier ways to solve problems, which enables me to master the material more efficiently. I feel more confident after every session and I am so grateful to have found him as my tutor!!! Worth every dollar!!!! Many thanks John!!!Apr 28, 2019Verified

John was a great tutor all around. Within three sessions he helped me drastically improve my score. He is very thorough and methodical in his approach. He was always punctual and was very accommodating. Quantitative was my biggest focus area. Walking through each problem, I learned tactics to see patterns in the question. This allowed me to work quicker and with more accuracy. I highly recommend John.Feb 18, 2020Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I charge $110 per hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Usually my first step is to go over work the student has already done to try to diagnose problem areas. Once we identify weaknesses, we devote sessions to them--reviewing concepts, doing practice problems together, etc. I have a flexible approach, since students' needs vary.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have received top scores on all the exams I tutor (770 GMAT, 170q/167v GRE, 175 LSAT). I am also a Graduate Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society.
