Dinner with Sat was the definitely the highlight of our girls weekend/bachelorette in Sonoma!! The food was delicious, he was very easy and flexible to work with and helped organize the perfect menu. Throughout the 3 course meal, he went at our pace and did an amazing job returning the kitchen back to a spotless condition. We had him enter the house we rented a few hours before we got back from wine tasting and he was able to take care of all the prep/cooking well before the time we wanted to start eating. After a full day of wine tasting, having a meal cooked in our house was the perfect treat b/c no one wanted to get dressed or go out. We had a group of 8 girls (1 gluten free, 1 who didn't eat red meat, 1 pescatarian) and well as 7 self-proclaimed foodies and he was able to accommodate and wow us all! I can't stress how much we loved the food and entire experience - would definitely dine with him again if we return to the area.

We decided last minute to hire a chef for a family dinner for some out of town relatives. Grace was very responsive and easy to work with. Within a few convos on Thumbtack we finalized the menu. I have a relatively small kitchen so I asked if Grace could do most of the prep offsite and come here to cook, which she did. She arrived early and was fully prepared. She served appetizers first and then prepared the main courses while we nibbled. She was very professional, friendly and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards. As for the food ... delicious - we really enjoyed our meal! The pork shoulder was a very unique dish; I've never had anything like it before and the sauce that went with it was equally amazing. This was definitely the most popular dish of the evening. The steak was also delicious - very tender, perfectly cooked to medium rare and the sauce was great. The parsnip-apple mash was also a very unique dish and very tasty. A little sweet but not overpowering. The roasted cauliflower was delicious. Our starters were the spring rolls & the beet and endive salad. We didn't know the spring rolls were vegetarian (and we're big meat eaters) so this was not our favorite. The peanut sauce was amazing though! The beet and endive salad was also good. Overall I'm really glad I found Grace. She was really easy to work with, the food was great!! She also has a chinese food menu and we can't wait to try that. We will definitely be hiring Grace again!!

The Dishes are so flavorful and delicately put together. I can tell a lot of time goes into preparing the dishes. I think what I like most is that all the ingredients are top shelf, and its prepared food that I can not get anywhere else at this level of quality. It's above restraunt standards. Especially impressed by the fact that they can hit the mark on so many dietary specific needs and still make it taste amazing! Get the Asian pear muffins! Or any of her famous baked goods! They will not disappoint.

So glad we found Dan's company on this website. From the first point of contact he was completely on top of everything. At first we wanted to have a cooking class, but after talking with him about the other types of experiences he could offer, we went with a demonstration/dinner party which was so much better than an actual class. We went with the Cotogna inspired menu and got to learn just as much, while spending time with our friends drinking wine. Perfect night!

We had Anja come over and do a cooking class for our company employees and significant others. She helped craft an amazing menu, wine pairings and tasty treats. Everything went off without a hitch and people couldn't stop raving about how much they enjoyed her instruction. While the food was great, it was her personality and pleasant spirit that really made this an awesome experience. Couldn't recommend her more highly.

*I have now taken two Indian cooking classes from Meenu Bhasin. In the first cooking class she made chicken korma, lentils and a yogurt side dish. These dishes were about a medium level of difficulty to prepare. Meenu was very thorough in explaining and showing each step of the cooking process. She also included a list of all the ingredients and spices, and where to purchase them. In the second class we made chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and rice with vegetables. Meenu is very good at teaching the preparation and cooking process of each dish. She goes over the ingredients and the entire process very carefully. She also leaves plenty of time for questions and discussion. I really enjoyed taking her classes and learned a lot about Indian cooking. I strongly recommend her as a cooking teacher/chef.*

We absolutely loved our french cooking lesson with Mashav! She created a custom menu for the class based on our suggestions and fresh local ingredients. She walked us through each step carefully and answered all of our questions. The final result -- 4 made-from-scratch french dishes -- was phenomenal. To top it all off, Mashav was very organized and easy to plan the class with.

I highly recommend Blue Sage and Elham. I first became acquainted with Blue Sage when I took a cooking class that supported a charitable organization. Because I was so pleased with Elham, I asked her to cater my husband's birthday party which involved having several couples participate in the preparation of the meal. It was a fabulous and memorable evening.

I gave my adult daughter, Jenny, a cooking class with Cindy as a birthday gift. Cindy was flexible and able to find a time that fit Jenny's tight schedule. She talked to my daughter the week before the class to understand her skill level and what she wanted to get out of the time together. She customized the lesson to Jenny's request for what to learn (more interesting vegetable preparation and some vegetarian dishes). Cindy was extremely well prepared on day of class with all the ingredients purchased and the kitchen set up appropriately. Jenny enjoyed the lesson and made three full dishes and learned a sauce that will be extremely useful for many dishes. Jenny said the class would have been more useful if she (Jenny) had been better able to articulate what she wanted to learn and describe her skill level better. Our one suggestion for how to improve the experience is to have a fixed fee for ingredients ($40-50) that is on top of the class fee instead of line item detail and recording costs for each ingredient used as it was used. The line item detailing was tedious, wasn't known in advance, and made Jenny feel she needed to decide if each spice and oil was worth the cost. Also, there were no containers available to take home the prepared food at end of class unless an extra fee was paid. We suggest including the cost of containers in the supply fee. (Cindy did let Jenny borrow mason jars which we returned later- so it worked out. ) All in all it was a fun and worthwhile experience and a creative gift for an adult. We would go back to Cindy again for another class.

Went to SF with three of my friends to take a cooking class from Lee and had an amazing time! The meal that she taught us how to make was better than anything that we would've had at a restaurant. I have very little experience cooking, but Lee was patient and a great teacher. She was also able to speed things up and provide insight to one of my friends in the group who cooked for herself regularly. Would definitely recommend that anyone of any level takes Lee's class! Super useful and an affordable price.

I did a 3-hour cooking class with Alejandra. She is fantastic! She is an excellent teacher, both with respect to general culinary techniques and to details of specific recipes. Her food is fresh, tasty, and quite simple to prepare. She establishes a friendly, easy-going atmosphere in the class, and has a great sense of humor. She is superbly trained in classical French cuisine but also has experience in Thai and Ecuadorian foods. Yes, she went above and beyond what I expected. What could have been improved? Well, nothing! Thanks, Alejandra!

Anita is knowledgeable and explains clearly any cooking steps. Its a pleasure to cook as she teaches and one gains a secure understanding of the recipe since she allows for the student their own thinking space and doesn't "hold your hand" too much.

"I am very satisfied, I recommend it! I hired Stagioni Italiane several times for different occasions at my house. Lorenzo provided me with an excellent service every time. Once for a cocktail party of 40 guests, and another time for the confirmation of my daughter with 30 guests, buffet style. Excellent punctuality, quality of food, and service. Lorenzo thought of everything and my guests were thrilled for such refined taste and great variety. I also had the opportunity to ask Lorenzo to cook at home for 5 - 10 people and the result was a perfectly executed dinner, fresh handmade pasta, fresh produce, exquisite desserts, and excellent combination with both Californian and Italian wines. Lorenzo is precise, tidy, discreet and friendly. I will call him back whenever I have the opportunity. Every time he offers new specialties and I'm sure he'll keep on making a great impression on my guests !"

Norwood created an awesome themed birthday dinner for 13 people at our place. The entire process was smooth, creative and right on target...we ended up with a 'Vegetarian Asian Street Food Tapas' theme complete with a Thai Boxer cocktail. He was professional, clean and a pleasure to work with together. I'd highly recommend him for any home event! Our guests haven't stopped sending their compliments on an amazing evening...

Great teacher - the most hands-on classes in SF. Everything is delicious plus he is very approachable and eager to share all his tips and tricks of the trade (where to shop for certain ingredients and equipment, etc).

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
